Does anyone happen to know the parts that make up the VIN?

Based on some analysis, I have come up with the following: [/b]

YH4K14AA4CA009999
YH4K 14 AA 4C A 009999
1 2 3 4 5 6

1) MFG / Model Maybe?
2) Trim [/color]
3) Unknown?
4) Paint Code
5) Unknown?
6) Build Number

Trim Codes
12 is EcoStd
14 is EcoSport
16 is EcoChic
10 is Signature?

Paint Codes
XC White (not sure which one)
7C Black what is 4C ?
??

I'd like to know all of the paint codes. I have a black/black sport coming that would be a 7C. An earlier build come in that appears to be the same spec, but the paint code is 4C.

I am curious as to what the difference is. Did they replace the black paint being used on the Fiskers?

Thanks for any/all info.

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_Identification_Number

In this case, the first part is the manufacturing location (YH4 = Finland because it's in the YF - YK range). The rest are VDS+VIS and in this case should conform to EU/NA "more than 500/yr" encoding:

YH4 [Finland]. K14AA [attributes] 4 [check digit]. C [model year] A [plant code] 009999 [sequential number].

2C seems to be for the Inferno color

My car has the 4C in that location of the code, but as ct pointed out this is not the paint code.
FWIW, my car is Deep Ocean.

Yes, the C is "2012". It will go to D in 2013, E in 2014, etc. The "4" before it is a checksum digit (see the wikipedia page for computing checksums).

The final "A" should remain "A" (indicating Valmet) and the digits should increase more or less monotonically.

Again, in the VIN YH4K14AA4CA009999, the "K14AA" part encodes (in some vendor-chosen manner) the various options on the car, including things like paint color if applicable (it is, I imagine, up to the vendor to care whether "paint color" is part of the VIN or just left to the eyeballs of the viewers).

The way to figure this out is to start listing known VINs and the car attributes so you can decode the pattern. (You could post your VIN without the check digit and serial number if you're worried about privacy.) I'm not aware of paint codes in the VIN, but it might include details like trim level, motor type, restraint system, etc.

Like ct-fiskerbuzz mentioned above, the only interesting part is the K14AA.

I think the K1 specifies that it's the Fisker Karma (the K indicating it's the Karma platform). Ray Lane had referred to the Karma variants as K1, K2, and K3 (the last two being the Surf and the Sunset). He also referred to Nina variants as N1, N2, and N3, for what it's worth. Though, if the Nina get's built in Delaware, it should carry a North American manufacturer's VIN prefix (rather than a Finnish one).

So combining what you have all said, then I would guess that Need was partially right, as K10BA is my SE car, so the K1 is a Karma and 0 would be the SE trim, with 2,4,&6 being EcoStandard/Sport/Chic repsectively, with the last two letter being I guess interior/exterior or vice-versa? If this is so:
BA somehow codes to Silver Mirage and Mojave Tri-Tone.

If a few people could post their 4 thru 8 digits of their VIN and their exterior/interior combos we could figure out if this is the deal or not.

Based on the inventory at Fisker of Atlanta:
K16AA is all EcoChic regardless of exterior/interior
K14AA is all EcoSport except of course SEs which are K10BA
K12AA is all EcoStandards.

The paint and leather combination is exclusive to the SEs, otherwise it's just a fully-optioned Karma. It did end up a little cheaper (initially a premium, but the $100K price stuck even when the base model price increased, as the SEs were on a committed contract for $100K, as opposed to non-SEs that initially had a "target" price of $88K+) (all in USD).

I wish the were badged as SE instead of ES, but they are EcoSports for all intensive purposes.
For that matter, it's mildly annoying that "EcoStandard" abbreviates to ES, just like "EcoSport". I keep writing ES as an abbreviation and then having to spell it out. :D
However the standard has no badge, it just says Karma on the back
