Update 615

First in AZ to receive the Karma- have had it 1 month now and love it EXCEPT for the software bugs which are a nuisance. I am told there are updates in the works- No dealer here so sent car back to Vegas for updates 614 and 614.5. Was told initially by Customer affairs 615 was due last week but still no word. Anybody have an approximate date of when 615 will be available? Hopefully they will be able to mail flash updates to car owners with instructions each time so the car does not need to go to dealer. Thoughts?

Welcome to the Forum. Please post photos when you can. Software version 615 is rumored to be in beta testing so it should be released fairly soon. It is unlikely that they would make an DIY update kit, but maybe they can send someone to you with the flash drive rather then the other way around.

Fisker Customer Support told me that 615 is currently being beta tested. They do not yet have a firm release date.

There are many different control units in the Karma, so a software update does not involve just a single download. Each dealer has one device that is used to do the updates, so the car has to go to the dealer. I think that is a good thing because if something goes wrong during the update process you have mechanics to diagnose and correct.
I was half expecting it to be released at the end of this week, but alas, not yet.

Dennis is correct, a software release affects multiple modules, and unfortunitly sometimes issues due arrise, 611 and 614 both took about 3 hours to install in each car, and both had a component that sometimes failed on the first attempt which required another 2 hours to redo.
Thank you - I will keep the car up in Vegas for a week or so and hope they can 615 - otherwise Fisker has consistently informed me that they would transport to Vegas from Scottsdale for any needed service- at their cost- since they still do not have a dealer in AZ

Not sure why that is taking so long either given the area being a hotbed for luxury vehicles of all kinds
Yes, even with the collapse of housing around greater Phoenix, I'd expect to find a Fisker dealer in that general area at some point. HQ will no doubt have someone wanting to be a dealer there sooner or later.

Just curious though, what kind of sports medicine? Orthopedics? I have a (now quite old) crush injury in my subtalar joint on one foot ... result of being thrown in the air when I was hit by a car, back in 1994. My girlfriend has bad knees with very little cartilage left. Have you been following the scaffold-grown-cartilage news? I keep wondering how long until we can grow our own replacements and have them put back in. :)

I specialize in knee and shoulder only. Cartilage transplant has been available for a while and works great but recovery is long, newer techniques very expensive and not covered by insurance (never will be) and needs to be done well before replacement time. Once you get to the point of diffuse arthritis (versus a cartilage defect or piece missing) it is too late for scaffolds.

My dealer told me last week an out of town Fisker engineer was visiting Dallas and indicated 615 was still at least 3 weeks away.
More grist for the rumor mill.

I have my dealer looking into the 615 release. Maybe he can confirm the 3 week window for release. It's nice to know something is coming....

My car is at the dealer and I was told that the new software update will be available tomorrow (12th).

Whohoo! Can anyone confirm this?
I will be waiting for the update until my replacement pieces damaged in transit or testing are delivered to the dealer for install on my car. That way I can get those done and my heat shielding bent all at once.
My car is at dealer and they are not sure of release- supposed to get a call from consumer affairs tomorrow with an update- they had to also install 614 and 614.5 so check with your dealer to make sure it is 615 that will be available tomorrow- that would be HUGE since 615 has the major updates for satellite radio memory, mirror motor etc- keep my fingers crossed
Thanks for all of the info- if anyone hears anything more please let us know- direct email is always ok too [email protected] BUT better on forum so we all kind keep in the loop
Sorry guys, but 615 has not been released yet
615 was tested over weekend. But they want to hold until all other bugs surface and only do one final update. My car returning from Vegas tonight. Will have to make another trip I guess. They are good about pick up and use closed carriers. Spoke to Fisker HQ today. No timeline on 615 ready date. Could be awhile. Don't use you mirror Fold button as motor can fry ( part of 615) fix. Other major issue in 615 will be preset memory especially for satellite radio.
I'd hope that the fix list is much more extensive than just the mirrors and audio settings, given the (much more serious) dashboard blackout issues, and PNDR issues, AND the fact that it has been >> 1 month since the last update.
Hey everyone. Just got my Karma 3 days ago. Yes, I am having software issues, but LOVE my car. I am also waiting on the 615 upgrade that is suppose to fix these issues. My question is, has anyone seen Release Notes or a break down of Known Issues and what this upgrade is actually going to fix? Seems like we are all waiting for this "fix all" upgrade, but I have yet been able to get a list of what this is going to address. Any input would be great.
I will post the first day we get 615 and I will make a separate post for it I can tell you that 615 isn't out yet and still no release date
I was told "less than 2 weeks" from a 714 Fisker rep.

I agree with silicon kiwi here. Actually the most annoying glitches to me are the inability to adjust screen brightness, which makes it largely unreadable during the daytime, occasional sound system blackout and occasional climate control lockup. I use those things every time I'm in the car. Not so with the folding mirrors.
