Just got a call from Fisker. They're stopping all customer deliveries until they can fix all the current cars on the road (they just had a teach-in with all the dealers). They're going to be testing version 6.13 at Fisker Orange County tomorrow and Fisker Santa Monica on Saturday. Process takes about 1.5 hours per car. If 6.13 fixes all the problems, it will be rolled out to all customers. Until that happens, no new cars will be delivered to customers. Thankfully, my car is at Fisker OC, so assuming that 6.13 works tomorrow, I can still pickup my car on Saturday.

I was also told that Henrik will be calling all customers who have received cars and those that are about to receive cars to answer any questions (we'll see if this happens!).

Needless to say, I'm frustrated!!! But fingers crossed that 6.13 works so that I can pickup my car this Saturday!

At least they are taking customer issues seriously. Hopefully they do actually step their communications (sans David Harris's valiant efforts ;-) ), I'd take both as a good step - despite the fact that my SE is supposed to land at my dealer tomorrow and this will certainly delay actually getting the car in my hands. I also heard that the dealers have been asked to inspect ALL wiring harnesses for delivered and demo cars. I wonder if some of Brian's issues are due to intermittant contact between connectors (hopefully not frayed or overheated/melted harnesses...!)

Mine is also at Fisker OC since Monday. Hopefully mine is one of the ones they are testing the new software on. I'll be making a call shortly.

ejo3rd,

Did you get your SE earlier and have to bring it in (ie have you already driven your car, or is it a new delivery)?

If they have identified the common points of failure and can fix all or at least most of the bugs with this update, this is probably a good move. My car is not getting on a truck until Saturday anyway, so this is not really a delay for me but I feel bad for those of our brothers and sisters here who are on the verge of getting their cars.

@Dutch: I hope this does not affect your car.

I sincerely wish they had done this before I bought my car.

I picked it up after the Christmas holiday. I've put maybe 200 miles on it. It's been at the dealer most of the time.

This seems like an incredible waste of Henrik Fisker's time. They should just set up a conference call and have everyone dial in since 90% of the information would be the same for everyone.

Just a suggestion ....

I think the wiring harness check and software upgrade for all cars is a positive move. My dealer is testing the new software right now and my car is scheduled for update/wiring check on Tuesday.

I'd like to suggest that the first person to receive 6.13 start a new thread that is dedicated to owners' experiences with the new version.

x2. I also think the forum would be better organized if new threads were started for each software version, titled like "Comments on software 6.13" etc.

UPDATE: The software my dealer received today and was testing is 6.12. HQ informed them that they want all cars upgraded to 6.13 before resuming deliveries. They are sending out teams of engineers to the dealerships to help with the installation and to verify the fixes.

Unfortunately, the HQ folk will not arrive at Fisker Silicon Valley until next Friday 1/20. In the meantime, the service staff will be doing the wiring harness check on all of the cars they have/will receive, a process that takes 3 hours per car.

I'm going to hang onto my car until they can work through their delivery backlog. I'm really enjoying driving it, and have learned how to work around the little control system faults.

I should have an update tomorrow. As I mentioned before, Fisker Orange County will be the first to get and test 6.13 (tomorrow). If that works, it will be rolled out to Fisker Santa Monica on Saturday and then nationwide. The process generally takes about 1.5 hours or so per car. I hope hope hope it works so I can finally get my car and enjoy the three-day weekend with it (since I missed the two weeks I was in LA for Xmas, the one-week for Thanksgiving etc)!

I spoke with Fisker of OC a short time ago. It looks like next Wednesday is more likely to get our cars.

Was that Marcelo? Spoke with them this morning and they're still waiting for Fisker techs to come out. Any reason why they said Wednesday?

I spoke with customer service today. They could not confirm that 6.13 was even in the test stages. Only yesterday, they switched from nearly approving 6.12 to saying that they were waiting for 6.13. I think it could be quite awhile.

OK just spoke to two different people at Fisker and dealer. What is clear is that nobody really knows what's going on. The latest info given to the OC dealership was that the car delivery moratorium would be in effect until Wednesday, JANUARY 25 (i.e. two weeks from now). The cars seems to be 'hit or miss' with 6.11/6.12, some cars are fine others still have issues. It sounds like engineers are puzzled why some cars have so many problems while others have relatively few. Engineers are apparently taking the three-day weekend off, so original plan was modified to test 6.13 at Fisker OC today and Fisker Santa Monica on TUESDAY. I don't know about you all, but if I'm weeks/months behind on a deadline, I push my team to work through the night/weekend to get stuff done (including holidays). Needless to say, I'm BEYOND frustrated.

If I don't get delivery of my car this weekend, I'm cancelling (I told Fisker corporate and my dealer exactly that). This is now utterly ridiculous. By my count, excluding the 2009/2010 delays, this is now the SEVENTH delay I've had with Fisker in the last 6 months. And what have we been offered in exchange for this? Zero. Zip. Nada. No discount for the frustration. No calls from Henrik. I applaud the new customer relations team for being accessible, but the news they are being fed from the top when it comes to what Fisker is actually capable of delivering is just plain wrong. Either Fisker is incompetent and has no idea how to solve these engineering/technical issues, or they have no dedication/drive to work through all hours of the day and night, weekends and holidays, to get customers the product we all have patiently waited for. Either way, this does not bode well.

Yes, I spoke with Marcelo. It sounds like they want to be certain that our cars are returned to us in good working order with a large amount of bugs killed.

It's hard to predict when the software is ready to be tested and when it is ready to be released. As we have already seen, it makes little sense to push software out the door on an arbitrary deadline rather than when it is good and ready to be pushed out. I think Fisker needs to take the time to test and debug this software properly rather than try to adhere to a particular release date. To their credit, they seem to be doing that.

I just don't understand why these problems didn't appear during pre-release testing. I am sure flying a bunch of engineers around is costing Fisker a small fortune, but it is nice to see they are doing it. Lexus did the same thing with a very early on recall when their first model came out.
