Software Release Notes (Owners Only please)

11530 Views 44 Replies 34 Participants Last post by  mgwahoo
I would really love Fisker to release, by way of either publication on their website, OR an email to the owners directly AND the same information being provided to dealers to hand out to owners, EXTENSIVE release notes for software updates detailing each issue they either attempt to fix (including a description of the symptom) and features that have been enabled/enhanced or added.

Communication by calling the customer service phone number only is inefficient, incomplete, and is far from "running a car company like a startup". It is communications methodology born of the Model T, not the mighty Fisker Karma.

Could OWNERS ONLY please respond to this thread if you support this, including the last 4 digits of your VIN. I'm hoping that if enough of us express support then the good people at Fisker will see the desire of their customer base and respond accordingly.

I think we all agree on this, and it has been requested at least a dozen times on other threads. In addition to the fact that it's simply inefficient to have everyone calling someone to find out the information, it seems that the information itself is flawed. I was originally told that 6.13 was supposed to fix the dashboard issues, but as we all know it didn't. Even the day that 6.14 came out one Fisker rep that I spoke to on the phone was still insisting that 6.13 fixed those things and that 6.14 was just an update to the Command Center. The next day I spoke to a different Fisker rep who told me a totally different story and said that no, 6.14 fixed the dashboard issues.

If Fisker would simply publish an official revision list then it would clear this all up. I'm still not 100% certain what 6.14 fixes since different people tell me different things. I would also like to see a list of what known bugs still exist with some idea of when they expect to have them resolved.

I agree given the current climate and us being the early adapters necessary to insure success I don't believe access to dealer info vis a vis software updates and recalls is asking too much

I doubt that would happen for many reasons.

Most owners don't really care; they just want a car that works as expected.
Unless Fisker magically fixes all outstanding problems in the next software release, I believe owners need the following information with each new software release:

- A list of which problems were fixed by the release
- A list of problems that are known by Fisker but are still outstanding

Here's the list I was given from Fisker back in late January. Sounds like all the reps have this spec sheet but aren't allowed to e-mail it or otherwise provide a hard copy. From my notes (including estimated release dates):

6.13 - Check engine lights
- Radio presets

6.14 jan 25
- Presets
- Bluetooth phone call quality
- Agree button sound/vol
- Backup camera lockup
- Parking sensor sound staying on
- Climate control touch panel
- Usb connectivity
- Voice recognition/nav freezing
- Excessive speed warning messages

6.15 first week of feb 7
- Navigation clock
- Torque between 50-100mph how its displayed on instrument cluster
- ECMs for fuel level readout
- Inverter issues
- Battery charging issue

Note: that the above wasn't complete - I could only write so fast!

My suggestion to Fisker is this, start a private forum for owners. It could be based on VIN number. On the private forum they could post release notes for current software, upcoming bug fixes,etc... It could be moderated by them and followed by technical and customer service personnel to answer questions. It would keep our concerns and issues in front of them and not on a public site where people considering purchasing a Fisker may get the wrong impression.

If implemented properly this could go a long way towards improving customer service and overall satisfaction.

I want Fisker to succeed and airing our gripes in a public forum isn't going to help them.

I agree with this approach wholeheartedly.

When Fisker launched their website rebranding I spoke to David Harris to provide feedback, and we spoke specifically about there being an official Owner's Portal on the website to house owner-specific collateral and communication. At the time David said it was on the roadmap, but I have no idea if it still is or when it might launch.

This is an open forum, so while it has been great for sharing of information amongst ourselves, it's also fodder for people whose intent is to damage Fisker or the political policies/parties supporting green startups. Even those with no particular axe to grind could easily take our gripes out of context.

Also, I suspect that some of the SW issues Fisker is trying to work through are hard. Like many on this forum I've developed software professionally and debugging race conditions and deadlocks is tricky business. I have 6.14.2, but at least two of the issues Fisker thought they had fixed (CEL and Parking Sensor) may be improved but obviously aren't completely resolved.

If Fisker would be more inclined to participate in an "owners only forum", I could set that up as a subforum here, limited to only confirmed owners.

Fisker formerly had plans to open an owners only channel at www.Fisker.me, but that appears to have been abandoned.

I also agree with this suggestion. Not only this would help foster better customer relations, the actual feedback from technically-minded folks who are driving their cars daily under different conditions should actually help debugging the code. In effect, we are volunteering to be unpaid testers for Fisker. Why would they NOT want that?

I also agree. Software update notes are a brain-dead requirement!
If you can have an update on a computer that lists all the "fixes" you can certainly have it on the Karma

vin# 1051
None of this really does much good unless Fisker starts giving software releases that show the software version installed on the Command Center, or that they track it by VIN for each of us in a database accessible by us.

Markansas #1383 inferno yet to be delivered and fired up. I agree. Hard to believe that a silicon valley company could not find a competent software provider! Strange Karma.
I'm "in" for the sharing of information. As I type this I'm getting the 6.14.2 update. The last three of my V.I.N. are 502. I am not experiencing any issues that have not already been posted on this forum.
I'm in.

Last 3 of VIN are 418

Agreed. VIN # 026
Wishing this will work, but betting it doesn't.
