I heard somewhere that routine maintenance is included free of charge during the warranty period. Is this true? If not, what do dealers charge typically? Does a 5k mile service need to be done?

Service is free during the warranty period for the Karma.
Actually Fisker changed this when they extended the warrantly. Now the Service Period and the Warranty period are distinct:

Fisker's customer care package for all existing and future 2012 Model Year Karma customers includes:
* A full vehicle warranty for 60 months/60,000 miles
* 5 years/50,000 miles of factory scheduled maintenance

It took three of us, but we finally got the questions answered correctly.

Just got my 5K service today (its actually 5K or 6 mos, whichever comes first). The whole thing only took 3 hours and they upgraded me to 510, did the 5K maintenance, changed the emergency door levers, fixed the wind noise on the right rear window, checked tires for click and checked the inverter grounds. All in all, pretty good.
