So I've been thinking about taking my Karma up PCH from LA to SF (and back). Has anyone done a long roadtrip yet in their Karma? I'm concerned about flat tires and bugs/road chips... But the other part of me says I didn't buy a car to NOT drive it... so...

I would say go for it...Suggest you "join" Blink that has 220V charging stations throughout california. For no membership fee you get a card that let's you charge at several hundred locations for $1.50 / hour. There is also a phone app to locate nearby chargers. I drove up tp LA from Orange County yesterday and could charge during my meetings while parked at LA Live. For $30 / year the charging rate is cut to $1.00 / hour.

The Karma seems to enjoy long trips with the ICE barely audible on freeways...However, uphill climbs on ICE will be noisy as the turbo kicks in.

I took my Karma on an 1100 mile road-trip the second week I had it (and still on 6.14!) with no problems. It's actually a very comfortable long-haul car. The only downside is that your lifetime MPG will take a hit :)

Like you, I didn't buy a car to not drive it :)

We drove our car from Palo Alto to South Orange County the day we took delivery. Awesome drive with no problems. Fuel cost was an amazing 70.00! Comfortable and reliable. This was pre 615. You just have to get use to all the attention the car gets in some of the small towns.[/align]

Took mine on a 2000 mile round trip from Atlanta to Western Maryland, DC, Va, NC and back. Great trip. I have 3M invisible bra on the car which I have on all my cars. So no issue with stone chips....Used the ICE most of the time and kept the battery maintained at half power if caught without gas near. I would suggest that on any long trip. The Karma averaged 26MPH for the entire trip, and the ICE performed quietly, except when the turbo kicked in when climbing the mountains through North Carolina and Virginia. Bottom line... don't hessitate, it is a great road car.
