I am now on 12 + years of ownership and have been blessed with very few issues. Recently, I was at a stoplight entering the freeway when suddenly numerous icons and flashing lights came "on" in the dash display and then it all went Dark and the car turned itself OFF. It was simply 'Dead". Fortunately, the flashing emergency lights button functioned and I raised the hood so cars behind me could see I was stopped.

Using my one technical ability with this car: a 12 volt reset with a 30+ second delay before plugging back in, the car did restart, but with some warning message "Calibration Required - Apply Foot and Park brake" I decided my best approach was to return home where I sent Joe Ferrante at Evolution Autosport, (who has helped me long distance before) and sent him a picture of the dash display (see attached). While anxious to get back home I had not noticed the small lightening icon next to the key icon. Joe asked when I had last replaced the battery. Well, it was exactly 7 years ago when I had owned the car for 5 years! Easy item to overlook when your car is driven twice a week with no problems year in and year out.

Apparently the car assumed it had no key and should be stopped (like if it had been stolen while parked, but was still On and operational). Replacing the battery solved all issues.

Suggestion: replace your battery on regular basis.

Along the same basic problem, I recently replaced my key FOB battery because the lightening bolt image next to the Key image appeared on my dash display. After installing a new battery, the lightening bolt and key image remained. I installed another new battery to be certain the first one I installed wasn't a "dud". Still, the lightening bolt and key image remained on the dash display. The car still operates normally. Is it possible this image on the dash could indicate a problem other than a bad battery in the Key FOB?

Some times it takes a while for the warning light to go off. Also it could be a key fob issue as the key fob does not transmit the voltage signal to the body module, despite the fact that the key fob works properly.
