If the Atlantic were in production they could shut the Volt line down for 6 months!CHARGED EVs Mag said:Despite strong numbers GM is faced with an oversupply, and plans to suspend production of the new PHEV for three weeks in July, instead of the traditional two-week holiday... Newswire >
I doubt a 50k car with similar technology will sell more than a volt.fisker579 said:If the Atlantic were in production they could shut the Volt line down for 6 months!CHARGED EVs Mag said:Despite strong numbers GM is faced with an oversupply, and plans to suspend production of the new PHEV for three weeks in July, instead of the traditional two-week holiday... As countless automobile luxury brands have proven, consumers will pay up for style. It isn't only about the technology.AnOutsider said:I doubt a 50k car with similar technology will sell more than a volt.fisker579 said:If the Atlantic were in production they could shut the Volt line down for 6 months!
Right. And the current generation Volts have be de-featured to lower the price, so you get even less for your money. The only advantage the new Volts have over the Karma is that they qualify for the HOV sticker in California, where the Karma does not.dennis said:As countless automobile luxury brands have proven, consumers will pay up for style. It may sell better, but only becuase it is in a different demographic when it comes out. BMW 335 - 535 ranges, mercedes C350-E350, Audi A4-A6, Cadillac A/C/XTS, Lexus GS, Infinity G37/M37, Acura RL will be the ones it has to grab sales from. Right now the VOLT/LEaf are pulling sales from people who want that technology and don't want an insight/prius, and with tax breaks are still in the 20-30k price class. Atlantic (if they can hit the 50k USD mark) is going after the bulk of the luxury class. if it outsells the volt, it will be because there are more luxury buyers able to afford it and give it a shot than there are people in the 20-30k class willing to try a vehicle like the Volt.AnOutsider said:I doubt a 50k car with similar technology will sell more than a volt.
