Are pucks needed when lifting the car for maintenance? If so are they the same used for a Corvette or Cadillac XLR?

I use good old pieces of wood between my lift arms and the undercarriage of the car . No cut outs for lift pucks
My dealer agrees with Harleyguy that wood works well for the do-it-yourselfer. However, they use $2 Hockey Pucks because it looks more professional and also protects the undercarriage.

A couple of other points they shared with me: The owner's manual shows the jacking points. You'll need a 22mm socket wrench to loosen the wheel lugs and 160 ft-lbs of torque to retighten them. If you put the wheel back in the same location, you shouldn't need to reprogram the TPMS.
