Hi,

I have a new fisker karma that has only 100 miles on it. 4 month ago the car was ok and i could switch between STEALTH and SPORT mode. last day i installed a new 12v battery and ever since the car shows REDUCED performance limp failure. and the car paddle behind the steering is not switching from stealth to sport at all. any idea whats going on??? i did few soft and hard reset but still nothing. all gauges looks fine no reds but the MSG performance reduced and limp failure is still on.

thanks guys for helping

Does the car move even though it's in limp home mode?

Can you charge it?

I would suggest pop the hood, and pull 12V and let it sit for 10 minutes, then plug it back in.

Let me know if you need more help.

Good luck.

Hi moe,

I'm glad to hear it can charge.
Does it charge to 100%? (Showing 50 EV miles for expected range).

Have you tried my suggestion of pulling 12V?

That's good that it charges to 100%.

Do you have a trouble code reader?
If not, you can get a simple Actron scanner.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003IOITIK/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1433125295&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40&keywords=Actron+DTC+scan+tool&dpPl=1&dpID=517eZEbAU5L&ref=plSrch

Don't get the Autel one because it can only reset and not read DTCs on my friend's Karma.
If you can't wait, you can grab one from your local pep boys.

It could be a cell imbalance issue like many owners have seen.

In the meantime, I would recommend charging it on level 1 to let the cells balance.

Moe as soon as you put the car in ready mode is it in limp home mode ? Or is there s delay how long it takes to go into limp home mode . Limp home usually occurs when an inverter over heats or a internal battery fault . Also not sure if this helps you say the problem started after you installed the new battery have you rechecked the battery connections maybe you should take a look at that .

Moe, if there's a delay in seeing the message after starting the vehicle from sleep (interior lights are off), it could be HVIL or isolation.
The probability is higher being the high voltage battery issue.
