New Owner!!

I just took delivery on my new Fisker! I was so excited, drove it for 30 miles and to my disappointment, discovered a few issues:

1) windshield wipers only work on rain-sensing mode. Does not work in normal nor high speed operation. Also, when I push the end of the stalk to operate washers, they spray while in the down position - sprays to the right, without blades swiping. Weird? Is this a software issue?

2) HV battery was at 25miles when I took delivery. I drove it down to 8 miles and manually switched to SPORT. Thereafter, the engine light came on. Funny that the vehicle was driven about 70 miles to/from Fisker dealer - Global Luxury Imports (highly recommend Daniyel!!) by the seller and no engine light. Is this related to the battery range going down to 8miles and manually switching to sport mode?

3 Finally, the circular trim piece that covers the electrical plug-in came off during transport. After further inspection, the cover appears to be glued on. Need a replacement that is color coded to Silver Wind.

Other than that (hope that's it), I'm still glad to be the proud owner of a FISKER newbie!

there are no rain-sensors in the karma unfortunately..
Welcome to the exciting world of Fisker Karma ownership, where every day is a new adventure.

1 - As was pointed out earlier, the Karma wipers are strictly manual and there is no automation. I think what you are describing is that the wipers only work in intermittent mode. This also may relate to your problem with the washer. Sounds like the stalk and switch that control the wipers need to be checked, as the wipers themselves appear to be working. The water spray nozzle for the windshield washer is built into the wiper arms, and if the wiper arms don't move when they should, the water sprays where the wipers happen to be sitting. Have the wiper switch checked.

2 - There are a number of possible reasons for this and the dealer needs to pull the codes to see which module caused the CEL/MIL light to illuminate. In your particular case, it may be a misfire when the ICE started. It happens from time to time. After pulling the codes, the dealer can clear the light and see if it returns. If the car is otherwise running OK, then it may just be a transient issue.

Sorry that your first experience was marred by this issues. They all sound readily fixable, so you should be able to look forward of many years of exciting driving.

Also, please post some photos of your new Karma. We are always excited to see these beautiful cars go to great homes.

Yes, thanks. I'm definitely grateful that it runs well and all the main functions are working. Because of this forum, I was able to have Daniyel from Global (a CSP) to do the inspection and upgrade.
Congrats!

Was always curious what TSW Nurburgring's would look like on a karma.

**** good I'd say!
Lots of us have the experience of the Check Engine Light popping on in the first 24 hours of ownership. (Sigh). You're ready for all the "I told you so's!". But, FAB is right. The light often comes on when there isn't something serious. Or, if you have a problem like I do (soon to be fixed) ... i.e. a weak cell that works fine down to around 10 Stealth Miles, and then flags an error. Many of us have a OBDLink Plug In device that goes into the On-Board Diagnostics Port (right next to your hood release under the dash) and works with your phone to allow you to clear your own errors and get your digital Speedometer back. But, you want to have a CSP check the codes first and let you know what codes are "ok" to clear, and which need something done. Mine keeps giving me the same error 1-2 times a week. I'm getting the cell fixed when it delivers next week, but I've been clearing my own errors every few days since January.

That said (and I know the above sounds horribly annoying, but) I wouldn't trade my car for anything!! My "line" is that it's like dating a Supermodel ... you'll put up with some quirks. :D

Also posted in theNewFisker.com forums. I went to AutoZone and they pulled a P1200 fault code. He looked up the code and nothing came up for Fisker; however, the closest match (at least that's what he thought) was a Prius and the P1200 trouble code shows as "Fuel Pump Relay Circuit Fault". Does anyone know if that's compatible? I just took delivery yesterday and need to get that engine lite cleared so that I can pass emissions and get it registered. Is there a way to reset it and clear the code? I'm in Houston and the closest CSP is in Dallas. Please help. I agree with JCMorrill! I will definitely put up with quirks as this Fisker is my second wife.

Turning the light off is pretty easy. The same mechanic who read it can also clear it for you. No need to take the car to a CSP for that. If it keeps coming back, you should consider going to the CSP.

Also, you may find emission testing a bit of an adventure. Be sure to read this thread before you go. The Karma does not allow the gas motor to idle when it is warmed up. As a result, if you drive to the station in Sport mode, the technician will have a hard time keeping the gas motor running while he is doing the test. There are a couple of ways of tricking the gas motor into running when the car is not moving, as discussed in the thread.
I just had the engine lite cleared by local mechanic. Autozone and Oreily's will NOT clear engine lite - it's their policy. So I guess I will drive it for a bit and quickly get an inspection before my temp tags expire. Thanks Fabulist for the help!!!

My only issue now is the NAVI. In Map mode, it displays the wrong city. I tried to goto settings and into TCM... it appears that it is searching for a GPS signal, but nothing happens. I also notice that the compass indicator in the cluster is "--" (nothing). This leads me to believe the GPS signal is not reading. Anyone had this issue?

Finally, when I goto Settings/Diagnostics, none of the buttons are pushable. For example, I tried hitting "TIRES" to see my pressures and nothing happens. Even though I have no faults, shouldn't I at least be able to push "TIRES"?

Thanks all!!!
The "diagnostics" menu is programmed (or not) to only let you press a button IF there's a known problem with that system. So, if everything is fine (like with your tires), you can't see the details. This menu could use a lot of work in future software updates, but there's nothing wrong with your car (per se).

My GPS knows where I am, so you may have a real problem there.

For clearing codes, I recommend:

Thanks JC! I will invest in a scan tool as it seems everyone that's having the intermiten engine lite problem are reset-ing it regularly.

Anyone know if the GPS/NAVi needs to be re-flashed? I don't know how to do this, but saw a suggestion in this forum - no details, though.

Thanks.
As a follow-up to my previous post, I attached the info screen (pressing system for 8 seconds) and this is what came up. I get "NOK" - (I assume NOT OK) for GPS/FM/AM/SDARS; however, I am getting FM/AM signal, but no GPS.

You CIU version is correct two things can be done first a reload of 510 for the CIU second a new CIU . You are correct about the heading position not showing up it receives it signal from the CIU .
When you program your radio stations do they keep them in memory or every time you start the car are they lost ?

Thanks Adam! I am suppose to have 520 loaded. It was installed by a CSP in IL (Global) before I had it shipped to TX. So, does the display show I have 510 instead of 520?? How can you tell, otherwise? Yes, the radio stations are kept in memory every time. THey aren't lost.
I just discovered another problem. In settings I selected "ON" for AUTOFOLD ing the side mirrors. It doesn't seem to be working. I'm assuming if "ON", the side mirrors fold away when turning off. Nothing happens when I select "OFF" either. Anyone have this problem? Did I get partial features in the 520 update?? Thankis for all your help in advance.

First things first: Can you fold the mirrors manually by pressing the Mirror Fold buttons on the bottom of the touchscreen?
The "Autofold" option only folds the mirrors 60 seconds after you lock the car (with the remote). It doesn't just do it when you turn the car off (which would be sensible). It only works when you lock it ... and then only after you walk away. Like the car is shy or something.
520 baseline does not flash the CIU (Nav/infotainment system). so you probably still have 520, Adam was referring to reflashing the CIU with 510 which is the latest CIU files we have. Most times (well...some times) it wakes the CIU back up and missing functions will operate again. Worth a shot as he stated before replacing.
OK, here's the latest.

I left town for two weeks, Fisker on a tender - fully charged, but not plugged while on vacation. I return, start my baby and viola, my NAVI and GPS signal now works and tracking well! I also had my local mechanic reset my engine lite before leaving town - not sure if sitting for 2 weeks had anything to do with NAVI.

But my "autofold" mirrors are still not auto-folding on it's own. Yes, I can manually fold them, but when I turn off and lock it for more than 1 minute (more like 15 minutes), the mirrors haven't folded. So not sure what's going on there. My other problem is there's not redistribution of air thru my vents - regardless of what I select. It's always blowing in my face and on the front windshield. I don't get any air on feet and cannot stop air blowing in face. Anyone had this problem?? I've already done a soft reset.

Finally, I didn't see anything in the forums about hardwireing a passport/escort radar. I purchased one and would like to hardwire direct to the fuse box (like my porsche). Is there an interior fuse box , ie on the side driver or passenger console?? I sure would hate to run the wire thru the firewall and into the engine fuse box. That's a long distance and don't want to compromise my firewall as it has been sealed per the water intrusions TSB. This is a great site and only reason why I purchased one! THanks.

Just to confirm, you have turned on the "auto-fold" option on the Settings Screen .. Correct? How do you "manually" fold them?
