New Command Center software

4569 Views 12 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  drliu
We've seen leaks of the new command center software, which has been installed through backchannels on a small number of Karmas. Now that it's been several weeks, can anyone report on its stability, performance, etc.?

Is there any way that my Fisker dealer might be able to install this software, or is it only being done through back channels? I'm in New England.

Thanks!

Honestly I am not a fan of it, had the upgrade for almost a month now. mine is glitchy, the fan will sometimes turn off when I go into the radio mode so then I have to back out of the radio and back into the the fan to turn it back on. The Sirius works 85% of the time. Sometimes I have to do a hard reset for it to come back up. On the flip side, the response time is improved and the night day feature is great for glare. So I am happy for certain things but no so happy for the "new" glitches

Was there any change to the Nav. system address entry screens? Having to repeatedly hit the "Check" after every screen was annoying and that was one of the slated fixes. Not sure if it made it into this version or not.
Fabulist, no changes that I can recall. But I very seldom use the nav and when I do it's for the 2 preprogrammed addresses in there.

The nav portion wasn't completed and not included.

I'm glad you brought this up because it amazes me that owners are chomping at the bits to get this software, knowing full well that its not finished.

So many complaints about how the old CIU software was buggy, slow, missing features, etc...and then they put in untested software! I mean I get being anxious for the new software that's been talked up by FA for so long but wanting to be a beta tester again...no thanks.

I suppose for a couple hundred and 15 minutes of time I could see how it might be worth the gamble.

and btw karmaman, just to be clear my post isn't directed towards anyone in particular. don't want you to think I was calling you out or anything; just my observation

unreleased = dealer won't have it.
Per the other thread, the good thing about all this is that Lormax will ship out 510 flashed CIU's if you are not completely satisfied (and too far away for a flash) with BL500. Great to see someone stand by their work.It may be worth the gamble since you have this safety net.
Yes there are a couple new minor issues that counteract for the improvements, is it worth a few hundred bucks and 15min? I still think so...even though It's not a perfect upgrade, the improved response time makes it worthwhile as I am much less frustrated waiting for screens to come up now, so would I revert back to the old one? Probably not, I am picking my battles and these new glitches....well I can certainly deal with them more than a crawling system. Just my experience.

Karmaman--
I agree. I think while not fantastic for the most part it is better and easier to use.
I like the fact in the diagnostic screen the tire pressure comes up and stays up until you clear it.
The only issue I have had is I have lost my FM presets 2 or 3 times....but not the Satellite channels.
One time my parking sensor came on while on the freeway and I had to stop and let it go to sleep to stop it.
Bluetooth is no better--- too bad.
Nav. is same but works fine for me but still clumsy as Fab noted. but I have had no accuracy issues or address issues. and it's no worse to enter then in my Lambo (audi) system.
day nite mode is slow to react to lighting changes.
I STILL like it better than the stock 510 software.

Been a beta tester all my like...too late to change now! :)

Just FYI, putting the car in Hill mode turns off the parking sensors. You can also turn off the sensors from the command screen. A lot safer than pulling over on the freeway.
Fab-- I was in hill mode. I always drive in hill mode 2...I like the feel (like having a manual transmission). I think like a lot of things in the Karma...it was one of those "ghosts in the machine" apparitions that just occasionally show up!
Thank you everyone; the reports are very helpful. Let's hope (getting harder, I realize!) that Fisker will find a forward-thinking investor to buy them, then they will honor our warranties and resume development of this 95% perfect car.
