I felt they went out of their way to be negative. For example: "...same as a 1958 Edsel’s." "saddles its aluminum space frame." "57-point U-turn in the supermarket parking lot" "sounding like an old man snoring." on and on ad nauseum. We all know Car and Driver likes to be controversial and has certain brands it loves. It also caters to it's readers who want to know ( no clue why) which is quicker around VIR a Honda Fit or Kia Elantra. Comparing a Porsche Panamera to a Karma is like contrasting Ms Piggy and Beyonce as to which one bakes better cookies!
I agree. The comments about the Edsel for example are just there to be snarky. C&D tries to be too clever sometimes. Still though, the overall headline, "
Good Karma: Fisker's four-door finally submits to the test gear and proves likable and real—and really heavy." is generally positive, and it was nice to see the Karma exceed the manufacturer's claims when it came to gasoline-only fuel economy, curb weight (barely) and 0-60 time using C&D's independent testing equipment.
Considering how much C&D is a BMW sycophant I did find it amazing that they said the Karma's steering was better than some bimmers: "
It even shames some cars currently wearing blue-and-white propeller badges—it’s that good." It must have really hurt them to admit that.
