I assume you are talking about the 3G Ipad (or using a MiFi-type personal hot spot), since the WiFi-only Ipad does not its own location unless it is connected to WiFi. That means you have to pay anywhere from $25 - $50 a month for data charges for either option. A dedicated GPS unit would probably be a better deal.
