is it safe now to plug in the iphone with usb to play music?

I just tried both Iphone 4S and 3s and doesnt work.
I get the message in the phones that they are connected but when you click on the USB in the command center nothing happens. Anyone else who has this?

I have an iPod Nano (5th gen) rather than an iPhone, but it "just works", except when it doesn't quite.

When it is working, the "USB" icon on the audio page changes to an "IPOD" icon. One can then page through playlists and so on. When it's not working right, the USB icon stays a USB icon; you can still play music, but the various features (playlists, artwork, song title/time/progress/etc) aren't all available.

It seems to be random whether it works or not on any given system startup. If it's not working, a power-down wait-2-minutes restart will usually get it to work. Unplugging the USB cable and reconnecting, won't make it work.

I use my Iphone 4s and an Ipod touch with no problems but the system is slow loading up the play list and the initial artwork before the first song starts to play. After that, stepping through the playlists and selecting songs to play, etc. is generally pretty quick, but you do have to wait through the initial load.

I have absolutely No Problems with using my iPhone 5 thru USB cable. In fact this is the only way I listen to my music from my iPhone 5. Never once yet I used the Bluetooth option for music from my phone. USB is great. Once I plug it in it goes in to my music automatically. LOVE IT!.

Playing music stored on your i-device is best with the USB cable. But as far as I know, there is no way to transmit audio from other applications, e.g., Pandora, Spotify, Audiobooks, etc., through the cable and your only option is BT streaming or AUX audio in. I like to listen to the audio version of the Economist magazine during my commute drives and BT streaming works very well for that.

USB Works fine for me with any kind if iPhone source in IOS6.
Checked YouTube, Internet radio stations, own recordings ... Even WAV file email attachments from my Voice over IP switch...
... as BT does.

6.28 didn't have a upgrade for the CIU that was done in 6.15 . I've had cars in from other dealers that had 6.28 but the CIU wasn't updated during the 6.15 upgrade . You can always have your dealer check for proper CIU software or do a search on the forum how to check that yourself .Take advantage of that little feature of self check

I *finally* got my Karma today!!! Everything seems great except for one issue with the USB/iPod connection. The car is running 6.28, and there is some intermittent static and drop out of signal when my iPhone is connected via USB. When it is connected via Bluetooth, it sounds great. But I'd rather have it connected with USB. Any ideas?

For me, it starts playing, what I used the last time... as long it came from an apple included app.

If I've been uninformed the music app, it starts at the point, where I've stopped it. If I've been using an Internet radio app after the music app, it also starts the music app.
If I've been using my own video recordings, it starts with the sound if that last video, but in that case from its beginning.

I don't think, that you can prevent it from stating something, but you might be able to decide, what it has to play.
