Great post. It was always my hope that when the karma batteries started to go (hopefully 7 years from now), that there would be a lighter, longer-range battery on the market that would allow the car to realize more of its potential. Then later I was worried there would be NO supplier. Now there are 2 bidders, each with a source for battery, so there is hope again.

Any expert able to compare the specs in the link to the current A123 batteries?

Auction countdown: 10 days.

I am not seeing how this is better for FA long term. Would it not be better to have an in-house battery arm (like Wanxiang has with A123?) so that $/wh could be reduced? Unless Li has a stake in Boston-Power, Hybrid Technologies is basically putting the fate of FA2 back in the hands of a rookie battery supplier. Has Hybrid not learned anything? The Wanxiang bid imo is the one that allows FA the best chance of success. Wanxiang has all the right synergies to allow for a financially viable Fisker Automotive.

Judging from the specs, doesn't look any better than the A123 cells - in fact, I think its cycle life might be shorter.

My thoughts exactly. May the bidder best able to resurrect the Fisker brand and its loyal Karma owners win!

For me this means, hopefully, both bidders, Hybrid Tech and Wanxiang, will make new cars in the future and hopefully will support & service current karma owners in the future.
And this under the warranty and service agreements which all of us are entitled to. We will see.

Smaller batteries with more range! I am looking forward to it.
I would also like more powerfull electric motors so my karma gets a performance of 4 secs to 100km/h!!!
The performance specs must go up for this sports sedan
