Hope to get my Karma in a few weeks. Now looking for a solution to mount my iPhone on the dashboard. In my BMW and Porsche I have a holder from "Brodit". These mounting systems work great.

Does anybody have a solution for the Karma without drilling holes?

Mine came with an insert in one of the cup holders that has a slot for the iPhone to sit in. It doesn't hold it tightly, but it is a good place to set the phone, and it is better than my usual of tucking it under my right thigh or struggling to get it out of my pocket.

Or it could go into the very shallow console between the front seats where the USB connector is located. This is supposed to allow you to access the music and playlists on your phone while charging it by plugging it in using a standard Apple charging/Sync cable.

I bought one of those for my airplane. Too much vibration causes it to let go. I just don't use my phone enough while driving to want a fixed mount in the car. If I remember correctly, the Volt has a nice rubberized tray in which to store a phone and prevent it from sliding around.

Speaking of airplanes, there are a couple of Iphone apps that let you use the iphone as a HUD projector and reflect information like speed, heading, and even location of speed cameras on the inside of your windshield to simulate an HUD. That would probably be the only reason I would attach something like this to the inside of a Karma.

The "GPS Test Plus" app for Android will do GPS-as-HUD as well. I tried it in my current car but it was unreadable due to internal reflections in the windshield glass. The video you linked also had internal reflections blurring the display but for whatever reason (better glass? different shape of windshield?) it was not as bad as mine.

(My car is on its second windshield due to a rock kicked up by a truck once, on a hot desert day with air conditioning going full bore, that resulted in a huge sprawling crack. Fortunately it was all covered by insurance. Still, it might be an OEM-vs-replacement thing, perhaps.)

Make sure your volume on the actual iPhone 5 is turned down a bit. That usually causes some problems like static and echo. You also probably want to upgrade to 510 from 628.

SoCalGuy: Unfortunately, the only camera I have with me is on my IPhone. So , can't take a picture with it in the clamshell. The unit does not cost much... order from Amazon and return if you don't like it. But I think you may like it.
