Hello From San Francisco and Manchester, New Hampshire

Hello all. I put a deposit down for a Fisker Karma around this time in 2008 and I am getting very excited about getting one as the production starts. My last three cars were convertibles and I would very much like to wait two more years to get a Fisker convertible, but I don't have that kind of patience, so I am getting the Karma now and will probably trade it in for the convertible in 3-4 years. At the moment, I am looking forward to actually driving a Karma when my dealership gets their first demo car in.

RE: Hello From San Francisco

Welcome!

Demos are supposed to arrive at the dealerships in May and June.

I think not waiting for two more years will turn out to be a wise choice

(Fisker have moved the production of the Sunset-convertible back to 2013 in favor of what will probably be a sportback or stationwagon, to be unveiled in September in Frankfurt and to go in production in 2012).
RE: Hello From San Francisco

First off, Welcome. Dealer in St Louis told me yesterday that the demos to the dealers are not coming to them until June/July! What else is new. I've had a deposit since 2008 as well, but will not order til I drive it. Could be a long wait. Dealers are in the dark. This one told me the pricing of diamond dust and tricolor leather are included in base price of the Ecosport. I told him he should check his facts. Scary when the dealer reps don't even know what they're talking about.
RE: Hello From San Francisco

I received an email response from Dan Williams in Fisker consumer affairs regarding the the "expected" but "unconfirmed" turn around time for orders placed prior to April 15th. He indicated these orders were in the first batch of consumer orders forwarded to the factory in mid-April and it could possibly be about 3 months from then to delivery. The tone of the email was not evasive but guarded. I think this is to be expected considering the complication of the technology going into these machines as well as govermental regulation and the logistics involved. I had nearly forgotten I ordered the car except for the occassional emails. Now that it's in process I can't wait to get it and hope I can enjoy it this summer.
RE: Hello From San Francisco

Hello all. Thanks for the kind welcome and the words of encouragement. I am hearing different things from different sources, so I am not getting anxious about it. It will arrive when it will arrive. My dealer in Marin and the folks in Fisker's consumer relations department called and asked me to place my order back in March to get it into the production queue, which I did. So far, I have not paid anything beyond my initial deposit, so it's just a matter of telling them which options, color and interior I want. So far, I have not signed anything that binds me to buy the car if I hate it when I finally get to test drive it. As with most new technology, I am perfectly happy to wait a little longer if that means that I get rev. 1.3 instead of rev. 1.0.
Hello Again, This Time From New Hampshire

A unique career opportunity has enticed me to leave behind my beloved San Francisco and go about as far East as I can, to the great Granite State of New Hampshire, where I will be working for an iconic Green transportation company. I have not yet decided whether I will ship my Karma over here, as I need to secure garage space and some sort of charging arrangement before I bring her over.

There are only around 400 EV or EV/ER vehicles registered in the entire state, so I will definitely miss the robust EV infrastructure of Northern California. Fortunately, my drive to and from work is a lot shorter than it was in California and as long as I have access to a 110V outlet at home or at work, I should be driving most of the time on stored electrons. It goes without saying that I also need to get a set of the winter wheels and tires before winter actually arrives.

I plan to stay active on FiskerBuzz as much as I can, but the demands of the new job may limit that somewhat, at least for the first few months. This is all very exciting and scary all at once, which made it all the more irresistible.

best of luck to you -- hope you ski , there is great snow in that area, but it is cold ... lets us know when you settle in -- we can officially welcome you to the right coast ;-)

Thank you. We are still in the process of establishing a residence here, but I am hoping to get fully settled very soon.
Congratulations Fab!

I hope you mean you're not sure *when* you'll ship your Karma, not *if*!

Or you could just buy an east coast Karma. Wasn't there another color you always wished you had???

You will have to re-title the thread!
You may miss the infrastructure, but the car is much less common there.
I'm trying to imagine what company could lure you away from private practice... Is it on this list?: http://www.manchester-chamber.org/economic-development/greenpledge/

Brent,

Right, exactly. My Karma is much better suited to my 7-mile one-way commute here than it was to my 45-mile one way commute in California. But my new place only offers outdoor open parking and I need to find and rent a covered, protected parking location for the Karma. Charging should not be huge deal since my commute is so short, but I don't want the Karma constantly exposed to the elements.

Good suggestion!

No, it's not any of those companies. If you really want to know, PM me and I will tell you. Not trying to play 21 questions, but my postings here are entirely on my own behalf and don't want them attributed to my company, so I prefer not to announce it publicly.
Wow Fab that's some move but Congrats where in N.H.are you moving too I spent many summers up there .
Congrats and all the best in your new endeavor, Fab - I truly hope, and for some selfish reasons, I admit, that you will keep your Fisker and stick around here, your contributions are in a league of itself and valuable beyond context. Forums live and prosper with members like you.
