I have leaves in my plastic.Dutch said:They are plastic, but not your average plastic. It seems to be pretty solid and scratch resistant.

Glass is great, but not if in a "mishap" shards fly into my eyeball. I'll take good old plexiglass for my window.Deep Ocean said:Plastic? Really?
If you do, post something about it, I'd probably spring for one and get my dealer to put it in. A tray in that area would be very handy (I don't even have my car yet and it's still obvious how handy it would be!).ffcars said:How hard is the center clear cover to get off? I have a supplier that could make us new clear covers with a small tray. I bet he wouldn't charge more than $20 bucks and he could use the same materials.
Could he make it fit a "big gulp"? (Sorry, I just couldn't resist after this wonderful bottle of wine.) But seriously, the $20 bucks quote must be a typo unless he lives in China?ffcars said:How hard is the center clear cover to get off? Plastic weighs less.Deep Ocean said:Plastic? Really?
Exactly, i don't think NHTSA would allow it to be glass for that very reason.Sigurd said:Glass is great, but not if in a "mishap" shards fly into my eyeball. I'll take good old plexiglass for my window.Deep Ocean said:Plastic? Really?
The more storage you have in a car, the more crap tends to accumulate in them. I am fine with the center console, as shallow as it is, and the door pockets. There is really no need to turn every corner of the car into storage for random crap, IMHO.Nimisys said:Exactly, i don't think NHTSA would allow it to be glass for that very reason.Sigurd said:Glass is great, but not if in a "mishap" shards fly into my eyeball. As for taking it apart: it 's a chore and while the rib panel beneath the window is removable, the window it self is not, it is bonded to the center console "frame" for lack of a better description.

Of course he's in China! My business is importing/distributing/manufacturing scooters and motorcycles from Taiwan and China, so have a lot of plastic suppliers.Sigurd said:Could he make it fit a "big gulp"?
