Fisker's CEO was a car designer, Tesla's CEO is an Engineer. That difference in experience and philosophy has influenced the decisions that led to the final design of the cars and the company's path. For the details, you can find them in the posts here on Fiskerbuzz.

Tesla has been building next-gen electric vehicle technology since its inception in 2003, and made a strategic bet at the beginning of its life to build cars around packaging commoditized (low cost) small-format batteries. Fisker is a design shop first before it’s a technology company. The company founder Henrik Fisker is the well-known auto designer behind the Aston Martin.

Tesla, like other automakers, built its own plants and developed many of its own technologies in-house. Fisker intends to use core parts like batteries and motors developed by other companies, contract out the building of the vehicles and outsource parts and service.
