Fisker of Dallas changing. To what?

I contacted the Fisker dealer here to confirm a Road Show drive next week and was informed they were no longer handling the Karma. They said the Road Show would still happen but they did not know which dealer would pick up the brand. He said they have 27 orders here. Fisker Consumer Affairs confirmed this.

That's not encouraging... I wonder what they know that we don't!
It's not encouraging that Dallas is changing dealers but the roadshow is fairly self-contained and as long as they have somewhere to set up, they can make it work. Mine was at the dealer in Marin, but I only interacted with the Fisker personell who were part of the tour, not anyone from the dealership. The Marin dealership is actually building a new Fisker dealership in Palo Alto, so the news is not universally grim.

Of course we don't know what's really going on but it's hard to figure why any dealership would turn down $2-3 Million in sales. The downside may be that if some number of the pre-orders are not picked up the dealer is stuck with the inventory.
I suspect that having a dealership in both Dallas and Fort Worth was too many too close and that they'll just consolidate.

That would be a drag .....having to drive 30mi for service.

Heh, 10 miles too far for a round-trip on battery alone :)

My Fisker dealer is roughly 30 miles north of me. That's not really "far" though ... it's one of those American West things. Admittedly I'd prefer it to be closer to SLC proper (say, 15 miles north), but it could be worse, it could be 50 miles south. :D

Or is it?

I currently drive a Mercedes and when I take it in for service they and they always wash it before they return it. I wonder if my Fisker dealership (which is literally next door to my Mercedes dealer) will return it washed -and- charged. That would make a 60 mile roundtrip (or even a 100 mile roundtrip) an all-stealth event :)

Y'all are spoiled. I live in Charlotte, Dealer is in Winston Salem for all the Carolinas. Drive is 1 1/2 hours each way on the interstate, so let's call it 100 miles each way. They told us early on that they were going to offer a pickup and delivery service. Now that would mean I'd be spoiled...unless of course it means I get charged double for the service. We'll see if this is all really worth it when I test drive on Sept 7th in Winston Salem. If not, I'll buy new tires for the 745 and wait for the Sunset or Nina, or perhaps the Tesla S.
Yep. I'm spoiled. I'm still hoping another dealer in Dallas picks up the brand. We are 6 days from the scheduled Road Show stop now and haven't heard anything. I guess I had counted on the Dallas Acura dealer carrying the Fisker. They were close and have a great reputation.
I guess they're coming to Dallas first and then to Austin because ours is next Tuesday. I'm actually hoping it'll be another 107º day here because I really want to know if the car can handle the heat.

It looks like Sewell in Dallas is in negotiations to pick up the Fisker. It's a grear dealership, known for good service and centrally located. I hope it works out. The Road Show came through their location yesterday.
Sewell Will be carrying the Fisker, confirmed.

I'm 35 miles from the dealership in Miami, I have been PROMISED under pain of death that they will flatbed the car up and back for all maintenance. The Fisker dealer in Miami has been a high end car dealership for decades so it's probably not a big deal for them. My car has been pretty trouble free for 2000 miles. Will see.
I feel LUCKY.
My Fisker Dealer is only 5 miles away from my house.
Wow you guys are making me feel REALLY lucky! My dealer is about 2.5 miles from my house and they offer pickup and dropoff service for me if I were ever to be that lazy (or out of town I guess)
We have been spoiled with dealerships everywhere for mainstream purchases. The company is so new that one cannot expect dealerships right in ones own city no matter where you live. When I bought this car, that was a given in my mind..and worth it! Otherwise, if that were the most important decision factor for each of us, we would be driving other cars. Dealerships had a difficult time I would imagine as did the brand with all the negative press initially. Today, some consolidation is taking place in some areas, and expansion in others. The Tampa Bay dealership sold off its Aston Martin position to replace it with Fisker. They have taken orders 10,15,20 in the first 3 months 2012. My Miami dealership has been outstanding! They send a flatbed to my home and if I wish, a loaner car to replace it while being serviced if a serious problem. They are 1 1/2 hrs away from me. THAT is service representing Fiskers reputation and backs the customer service pledge! In one aspect it is more convenient than a local dealership. Tesla has sold around 2100 cars and has been around for what 3 years now. They are valued at 4B and Fisker has just begun. Fisker and the dealerships are standing behind and doing everything right with private funding and distancing itself from the DOE. Bottom line for me..if someone offered me another car...Tesla(no nearby dealership),Porsche,Aston Martin,Ferrari,etc.. with a nearby dealership in exchange for my Fisker...no thank you! They are working every day to correct the issues and one by one they are doing so. I thank Henrik Fisker for this most beautiful car and Tom Lasorda for helping to make this comapany successful and prosperous for years to come. Everyday when I go into my garage to unplug it and drive it, I would do it all again with no hesitation! :),:fisker:
