Just had the recall on fans taken care of...

Currently, my car is fully charged and unplugged with windows down. The outside temperature is approx 70 degrees f and car is in the sun. The Fan has been blowing on high for 2 hours!!!!
This can not be normal. I understand the car should ventilate out hot air, but this is ridiculous

If you are talking about the interior fans, as long as the car is in the sun, this is normal behavior. See this post.

Thanks for the explanation.... But why have the cabin fan running continuously to vent the car? The power generated by the roof solar panel should go to recharging the batteries.
The whole car venting idea is a waste of energy... The interior is small enough that once you open the doors the heat escapes quickly...

Actually the solar panels main purpose is to charge the 12 volt battery when needed. This saves the HV battery from using its energy to charge the 12 volt battery when running, giving you more range.

When the 12 volt battery is charged, it runs the blower motor to vent the cabin.

The venting is a great feature of the karma. I really notice the cabin temperature difference between the Karma and my other cars when they are parked in the sun. Just opening the doors does not help much.

I agree especially if you have leather interior.

I had a similar issue, as the cooling fans would run often for a long period, after I parked the Karma in the garage. However, I discovered that if I turn the AC "OFF", before sutting down the car, then I never seem to have the fans running.

nice.. I am going to have to try turning off the A/C... it sucks having to wait sometimes 15 minutes for the fans to stop before charging.
I've also started turning the climate system off. Usually that means no fans, but if the engine was running for a while (e.g., sport mode) and/or it's extra hot, as was the case for me last Saturday, some fan(s) keep going for a bit. (But where I was parked, there was no charging available either, so I don't know how that would have affected things.)
