Came home today, parked the car in the garage, and FIVE hour later, the fan is on (not sure if it never turned off, or decided to turn on). I double checked to see that the car was not charging (and it wasn't) (I have my fast charger hooked up to a timer so that the car only charges after midnight).

Is this normal? It's 64 degrees outside, cars been parked, not charging.

I would just try it.. its not charging but being plugged in is it getting the connection signal?

open the car.. does it show the plugged in light illuminated?

I understand that even though it is not charging my car still shows that it is plugged in.

If you wait until the fans stop and the car is completely asleep before you plug in the charger, then this will not happen. So, wait until the light on the PRND goes out and about an extra 10 seconds, then plug in your charger.

Depending how hard and how long you drive the car the cooling fans run in order to cool down the battery and the inverters . The engine also has a cooling fan so there is a total of three cooling fans a total of three cooling systems if you ever looked under the hood you will notice three coolant tanks . If the fans are running when you get out of the car after you turn the car off this is normal .

If you need to charge the car I feel waiting for the cooling fans to stop running helps in the over all picture on how the car charges .The two minute wait is worth it .

If you don't need to charge the car just lock it and walk away the fans will shut off by them self"s

Now if you let the car go to sleep and hook up the charger and come back and the low temperature fans are running you may have a charging issue and the car should be checked the system is made to cool the battery and inverters while charging .
