I had my car washed this afternoon and then went to the store to pick up some things. When I got out I realized I had forgotten my key fob. The car was already turned off. I got back in, pressed start and drove home. My Karma runs with or without the fob. The key was at home the whole time. Anyone else notice this? I discovered it by accident.

That is definitely not supposed to be possible. When I had my key fob in my pocket after valeting, he couldn't pull up my car until I gave him my key fob. When he pushed start, he got a message that the fob had left the car.

I wonder if you noticed it and re-started in the 2 minute window that the car was awake before it went to sleep and the PRND lights go out. I wonder if during that short grace period you can still re-start. I am pretty certain that if you walked up to your sleeping car you couldn't start it. I know mine doesn't, because I forgot my key in the house one day and couldn't get by car to start in the garage. (Sad commentary: My first reaction wasn't "I must have forgotten my key", it was "Oh hell, another glitch?")

If for some reason your DOES start, it's definitely worth a trip to the dealer!
