I still want some solid video of the command center. That video they posted was mostly screenshots from 2009 (you can see 2009 in the date on the clock), and it was cut so quickly that it was hard to see much. I'd like to get some real, solid information about what features it has. Maybe a demo of it rather than the usual talking heads videos of Fisker employees talking about how ground breaking everything is.

Maybe our friends who have test drives coming up can spend a minute or two on the command center and record the video. As I recall, the Fisker rep. told me that that at least the navigation software will receive a major upgrade before the car is shipped so the final product may look different than the test cars.

As much as I like the idea of the solar panel it's not very useful in the northeast. Does anyone know if there are any plans to offer a sunroof?

Yeah the graphics on the navigation screen were not very impressive. Hopefully it will improve in final form (although I'd HAPPILY trade that for a Sport mode that didn't sound like a lawnmower!)

Maybe they can put in a wind turbine as an option for non-sunny climates. :D

The Nina and future versions will most likely include a sunroof option but the solar panel is such an iconic element in the Karma that I have a hard time seeing it go away any time soon.

From inside the cabin, it sounded more like a jet fighter's turbine wail than a lawnmower, but I agree that quieter would be better.

Hopefully they'll offer the solar panel as an option down the road. It's not very practical and probably adds considerable cost to the price of the car. I'm leaning towards the EcoSport but I want to hear the generator noise on a production vehicle before committing.
For me the solar panel was a big selling point. In addition to it just being neato I liked the idea of my car staying cool while parked since there's nothing worse than getting into a black-leather interior car here during the Texas summer. It'll singe the skin right off your legs. But with the fan blowing while I'm out shopping or whatever, it should avoid that.

It is inconceivable that Fisker does not have a version 0.8 (pdf) of their user manual or user DVD (some digvid format) at this time. Why not release them as a "beta" for all of us on the production list. The feedback they'd get could only help.
Except for correcting typos, without a car to try things out, would an owner's manual really help Fisker, or just help us know what the car has to offer or not offer and have another thing to complain about. It would just be more of a headache for them if the car turns out to be less of what it was hyped to be.

Obviously, sharing a pdf of the draft owner's manual would help us to determine whether the interior functionality is hype or not. At this stage, if Fisker is afraid to share that info, it's a bad sign.

In my case, I'm a few weeks from a test drive. The problem is that the Karma "test cars" all claim to be pre-production and therefore can't be assessed accurately relative to interior functionality.

If the driver interface is missing major functions that are common in luxury cars at its price point, that's a problem. I do not intend to buy the Karma until I'm satisfied that there are no "uh-oh" moments when I try to do the expected, and it's not there.

BTW, if Fisker were smart, the interior functions would include at least one or two capabilities that surprise and amaze‚ differentiating it from other cars in its class.

I am not really sure how helpful a draft manual would be at this stage. The people on this forum are most likely very familiar with the basic operational concepts of the Karma. And if the details of the user interface or other aspects of the car are going to change, getting the draft manual out would just result in confusion. The things I really care about, the power, the handling, the fit and finish, the interior noise, etc., are not really described by the manual. The test drives and the videos are much more helpful, IMHO.

We may have heard two different points in the Sport mode - when the turbo discharges the air, it definitely sounds like a lawnmore on steroids... other times when the engine is more tame, it sounds more like a jet engine.[hr]

Well its something those of us who are early adopters are sadly used to. Does everyone remember how long it took Apple to add Copy & Paste functionality to the iPhone? Or how they had a proprietary (over recessed) headphone jack? Talk about "uh oh" moments!

I posted my video, so you can hear what I heard. From inside the cabin, with all the windows closed, I did not hear the tinny lawnmower noise you hear in the video from the car that was idling with its hood open. Maybe the closed windows makes a difference.

Odd...my windows were up too.
