CODA close to starting deliveries in March 2012

Looks like we will start seeing Codas on the road fairly soon, after they start making customer deliveries this month, at least according to their blog.

While it is not the best looking EV by any stretch of the imagination, I think having more and more EV and EV-ER cars on the road can only help expand the acceptability and ubiquity of these cars. When the question shifts from "EV or normal" to "Which EV", the market will, IMHO start really expanding.

I'm rooting for them... A little worried, but as you said, the more options the better.
San Diego Fisker (WWW.MKB.COM) has a CODA if anyone want to see one in person
At that price I would wait an get a basic model Tesla S. But I am waiting for a Model X.

Wait until you drive one ;) My money would go for a Volt or a Leaf
Volt and Leaf don't have the space to replace my Subaru WRX Wagon, which is what the Model X will do.

I was actually alluding to the CODA's 40K price point. It has two things going for it: convential car looks, and the longest EV range (again at that price point). Otherwise, in comparison, it gets destroyed in every other regard. Sad to say, but the Mitsubishi MiEV is more appealing to drive, and that thing is not much more than a golf cart with doors.
I am the world biggest advocate of electric cars, however 40 grand for an amazingly pedestrian looking Chinese made econobox? This thing makes a Subaru look like a Gallardo by comparison. I'm sorry I wish them all the best but I just cannot imagine them selling very many of these. I mean think about it... a Volt is way better looking, has a range extender engine and is backed by GM (Such as they are). It is within noise of the same price as a Volt and as people have pointed out it's only a little cheaper than a base Tesla S.
