The stainless steel plate containing the PRNDL and window controls has become dull as well as the plates around the "door open" buttons. Does anyone have a suggestion about how to sparkle those up without discoloring the clear lucite that abuts them?

DNA guy. A little confused. The metal around the PRNDL and the windows is Not Shinny Stainless. It is more of a smoked color and seems to be coated to protect it. Unless something corrosive has caused yours to loose its coating, I would recommend cleaning only with a mild cleaner and soft cloth.

You cab use glass cleaner that's made to be used with tinted windows and yes they do make glass cleaner just for tinted windows it isn't as harsh as your normal over the counter brand . Some better auto parts stores carry it

Once I forgot to close the window in the car and it rained - the water got on this control panel and the power windows became inoperable for a while, and I realized that cleaning with water was damaging the door cards. It's good that I was advised to use gentle steam cleaning, because only 5% of the water remains on the surface when using well-heated steam. When choosing a steam cleaner, the Optima model was offered to me at a discount, but after looking at the review Do not buy the Optima steamer before reading this, I decided to choose another more versatile model.
