I am pretty sure that the 110V charger is an indoor/outdoor unit, precisely because it is sealed against moisture intrusion. And while it would probably not survive full immersion, it can handle rain and dew without too much problem. It seems odd that the water can get in, but not get out. If the unit is sealed, it is sealed in both directions. If it is not, you should be able to get the water out the same way it went in, without having to crack the shell open.
I discovered water was the problem when I was carrying it, and water started dripping down the cord, so I'd advise anybody using it outside to use some silicone caulk around the plastic "nuts" at each end.
As for me, I shook as much water out as I could (about 1oz), and hope the desiccant will do the rest. But whether it will ever work again is anybody's guess.
Hard to believe that it was only out for a couple of days in an area covered by a roof overhang (certainly not submerged), but I'm pretty sure it arrived in working condition and got waterlogged here.

The box is literally breathing, due to temperature changes. When it gets warm, it extends, when it gets cold, it collapses.
If there is a single small hole somewhere, air will go in during expansion. If it gets cooler, the water contains in the air will condense and during collapsing, the air will be 'blown' out, but won't contain as much water then during the expansion process.
Over the time, you will have water in the box!
Add more water during the rain phases or during submerging and you'll have your story
So new member here. 2012 black/black Karma with only 1900 miles and my charger just decided to stop. Seems to be typical but now to replace. I like the convenience of getting the volt charger directly from a Chevy store. Anything need to be modded? Is it only 110. Thanks for a great forum guys. Glad I found ya.

The Volt EVSE also has a similar problem where it stops working and is of marginally better quality than the Karma EVSE . You are better off getting the Panasonic Leaf EVSE. This can also be converted to work off 220.

Any J1772 Compliant charger should work. Some, like the Panasonic, either do, or can be converted to, provide level II (220V) power, such as this one, but if you just want a Level I portable EVSE, there are a number of companies that make them. Examples include this one.

the clipper creek is awesome. I got one when mine crapped out - also on Harley's advice - and I love it. (I too am leasing and can't make changes to the house.)

I have a clipper Creek and use it to charge both my Karma and my son's Tesla.
Interestingly enough the Tesla pulls 20 A on 240 Volts while the Karma only draws 16A
Something to d with the onboard chargers. The Tesla is connected through an adapter to match the clipper J1772 socket.
