Cars and Coffee in San Francisco

I saw this event listed and thought it might be interesting to go and have a look. It's only $5 to be part of the event and that is cheaper than any parking, plus you get free coffee...:D. Any locals thinking of going? the inaugural event is this Saturday. http://carsandcoffeesanfrancisco.com/when.html I'm still waiting to hear back from them. I wanted to make sure our cars were safe and limited from people climbing onto them, etc.

Here is the reply I got from one of the organizers with answers†o my concerns:

Hi,

The cars are pretty safe. I have been to these events in other cities and everyone is very respectful. At the Irvine event, there are no event reps at all, people just come and go and park and there are several hundred super high end cars and the show goes off weekly without incident. Our event is going to be a little more structured, as there will be staff to direct cars where to park, volunteers like myself, private security from the Hilton as well as off duty SFPD.

People don’t sit in the cars or anything like that. They just kind of walk around them. Again, people are respectful enough not to touch the cars, but its not like there are signs or anything. People are on the honor system. Think of it as a big parking lot, the public doesn’t do anything that they wouldn’t do if they saw an exotic at Safeway.

We’d love to have a Fisker Karma.

Best,
Craig

I would be totally onboard with attending this event, and it's pretty easy for me since I live in SF. @awadding, are you planning on attending? Maybe we can get @marswill to join us as well.
It would be good to get all the colors represented. We could put the more "common" Shadow (mine included) cars between the rest of them.

Update: So far yours truly and @awadding are committed to this event with @marswill being a definite maybe. Anyone else want to join us at 7 AM on San Francisco for a strong Karma showing? Would love to meet as many forum members as possible.
i'm suggesting the Santana Row C&C
Woke up too late for the San Fran, but made it to the San Jose C&C.
Fun cars and P90XMC2 had the only Fisker. Strategically placed in front of Tesla, the (very cute) Tesla sales girl was in love with the car, or maybe P90XMC2. In any case, she took a bunch of pictures.

Nice job representing with the Laguna...

The Tesla saleswoman knows style, class and panache when she sees it. Karma, FTW! :^)
very nice, tesla can't bring themselves to take a color risk. Great job!
@awadding and I attended the inaugural San Francisco Cars and Coffee event on Saturday morning. Hanging out with fellow Karma owner and immensely knowledgeable car enthusiast, awadding, is always a pleasure and this was no exception. There were a wide variety of very interesting cars on display, so many in fact that I was too busy checking them out to get any coffee :D. The owners were very gracious about talking to us about their cars, and we received a lot of interest in our two Karmas as well. Overall, it was a great way to spend a Saturday morning.

Thanks Fabulist.

I also forgot about coffee...and apparently doughnuts!...lol.

Amazing to see such a wide variety of demographics(both people and cars) and I love how a Ferrari and a corvette could become the "common" car in a large crowd. Just when you think you could stereotype an onlooker, you find out that their conservative exterior hides a love and ownership of multiple exotic cars. People kept surprising us.

There must have been 100 Million $ of car on that pier...hence needing to sign a waiver.

So the part that Fabulist missed was me getting my photo taken with mayor Lee, who BTW drives a Volt. I was chatting away getting ready to take off, when out of nowhere the suits and paparazzi show up and I get questioned about my car and asked to stand here and smile and stand here... If anyone sees me in the press, let me know. I'll send the photo to Mom:)

If you look closely, you'll see our 2 cars parked in the middle of the 4th row back.
Nice!
Cars And Coffee SF 3rd show this Saturday Aug 2

Hello All,

I just wanted to give you all an update that we are having our 3rd show this Saturday!! We have made some changes to our schedule we will now be starting at 8 am with an end time of 11 am. Going forward Cars And Coffee will be held the first Saturday of every month just to simplify things.

We’ll continue to tinker with the specifics of the show as we try to grow it, but it will continue to be at Pier 32 on the Embarcadero. If you want to exhibit, please register at www.carsandcoffeesanfrancisco.com/exhibit.php. If you’re attending to check out the great cars, there is parking next door at Pier 30. As always, thank you for your input and we look forward to seeing you Saturday!
