KM said:
Audi announced today at the TED2012 conference in Long Beach, California, that it will introduce an electric version of its A3 compact sedan, the A3 e-tron, as part of a pilot program to collect data on both vehicle functionality and driver usage over the course of the next year.

Participants will be active beta-testers for the latest development of Audi's plug-in electric vehicle technology. The A3 e-tron features a 199-lb-ft electric powertrain operated by a 26-kW lithium-ion battery, good for a maximum range of about 90 miles, or conversely, a shorter range but a top speed of 90 mph.

Participants in the pilot program will include seventeen Audi staffers located in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington DC, and Denver. These four cities represent a broad range of test scenarios including climate, geography and driving conditions, helping Audi engineers cover all the bases in preparing future production models for the American market.

All I can say is, "Gimped!" compared to the first prototype and even the second prototype, which was a gimped version of the first prototype. I think Protean Electric has it going on myself.

This is what I think the production e-tron it's going to look like. I am pretty sure the TED car is only a running gear test-bed. I least I really hope so.
