Plug-In America, along with the Sierra Club and the Electric Auto Association are holding the third annual "National Plug-In Day" on September 28th or 29th.

The Plug-In Day is actually a collection of 64 regional events happening across the USA (plus one in Canada and one in Mexico) with the aim of raising awareness of electric cars and as a way to get to meet fellow EV enthusiasts.

From their website:
National Plug In Day is a nationwide celebration to heighten awareness of today's widespread availability of plug-in vehicles and highlight the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more. They are fun to drive, are less expensive and more convenient to fuel than gasoline vehicles, are better for the environment, promote local jobs, and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

Throughout the weekend of September 28 - 29, 2013, events across the US and other countries will celebrate the third annual National Plug In Day.

Each celebration event will be led by local plug-in drivers and advocates and will include some combination of EV parades, ride-and-drives, electric tailgate parties, press conferences, award ceremonies, informational booths, and more. Plug In America, Sierra Club, and the Electric Auto Association serve as the national team providing support to the events throughout the country. We are pleased to partner with the many other organizations and individuals working to bring National Plug In Day to communities across the country.

I'm planning on attending the Atlanta event. Check out their website to learn more and see if there's an event near you:

Show up in your Karma. Even though FA is down for the count we'll still have the best looking and most attention-getting rides there!

For those of us in Atlanta, there's now an official Facebook event for this too:
https://www.facebook.com/events/507824042598228/

Even if you're not in Atlanta I would encourage you to participate in your local communities. If Fisker is to have any chance at survival people need to see that these are real, amazing cars driven by people who like them. Just going to an EV event won't right the ship, of course, but every positive step helps.

Cheers on National Plug In Day!

Congrats to everyone for making the switch, educating others, and pushing forward the EV movement (regardless of which brand). Proud to be a member and fellow advocate, owner of 2 EVs...

Where I live, there's a herd of deer daily through my yard, and they just stare when I drive by 20 ft away. It may just be my kiddish delusion, but makes me feel like EVs/low-no emissions are a non-threat to their & natures existence and a step in the right decision... Unless the're just stunned at how sah-weet the Fisker looks :p

Cheers!

Or maybe they are lulled by the car's siren song. :D

As of today, I am still the only Karma registered for this event. They have a nice selection of cars registered, including a Fiat 500E, which I am very interested in seeing. If you are in the neighborhood, come on and say Hi.

Had a great time at the National Plug In Day event in Atlanta. There were close to 100 EVs on hand of many makes and models and some EV conversions too. There were plenty of Volts, about a dozen Tesla Model Ses, at least 40 Nissan Leafs and THREE Fisker Karmas on hand, including mine.

I had to agree with many of the spectators that said the Karma was the best looking car there :)

Here are a couple of photos.

The Bellevue National Plug In Day was also a success. I chatted with several people who are not current EV owners but were there looking, and getting feedback from owners. If they needed encouragement, the certainly got it. Mine was the only Karma, there was a Coda (#24), and a very cool Audi conversion, more than 125 cars in total (Most of them Leafs, followed by around 20 Model S's.)

A couple people even asked me where they could buy a Karma! I was sorry to share that it wasn't any longer in production.
