Here we go again (battery issues)

So, I just had a cell replaced and I’ve been getting check engine lights every few times I drive, which require a reset. Today, HV battery light came on. So this is the exact issue it had before a module was replaced.

Any ideas or dealer? Next question, assuming cells are dying off, replace the entire pack or one at a time? Or trade the car in

Recently put about 19k into the car in repairs, clear wrap, detail, refinish wheels.. would obviously lose that if trade in/sell. This is also my wife’s car, and her favorite interior/exterior color combo (white, tricolor interior)

Karma of Atlanta. I was having issues where the battery would drain to zero after it showed 14 miles remaining. Then the HV light started coming on and not allowing the car to start. They did not give me specifics on how they came to the conclusion. But the one module replaced did fix the 14 to zero issue

They said they balanced it for a day or something. I asked them prior to the service if any of the other modules are failing... they told me they couldn’t say until they replaced the one... I don’t know if that’s true, but that’s a crappy way to find out.

At this point, they probably all need replaced if they are going out at this rate... or at least I’d be worried to replace them one by one.. two cells and labor nearly costs what a hv battery does if I remember correct.

Did they balance the replaced battery module...? The module could be balanced prior to installation. In my opinion, all 15 modules should be balanced to the exact same voltage before installing the battery pack. There is no need for “balanced it for a day” if done right. The car will not balance or bring cells back to life if the cell deviation operates outside the manufacturer’s specifications.

A “worst case” scenario is if someone installs a new module with a higher voltage which will result in charging being interrupted when that module reaches full charge.

I suspect that you have more than one bad module if your car instantly drops from 14 miles to zero, your faulty code / codes will pinpoint you in the right direction.

Battery Cell

Power Source posted this a year and half ago.
"Leave it plugged in for a week, if the EVSE still shows charging after a week, you need to get a battery read out of the cell deviations. From this read out, you can tell if the deviations are too far out of balance. If so, then you are out of luck and have to drop the pack and swap in new modules. If the latter is the case, would suggest sending to Joe in Pennsylvania to fix the issue permanently. His shop balances the cells prior to installation in the car. Most shops just throw in mis-matched modules and tell the customer that the vehicle will eventually balance."

I would suggest you call Joe Ferrante at Evolution Autosports in PA 267-210-3986

They said they balanced them. I really don’t know how the operation works, so I have to trust that they did.

To be clear, before they did this the car went from 14 to zero, now it does not

The only thing that happens is check engine almost every other time it’s driven (won’t start) and then hv battery came on recently (won’t start). I cleared the codes to get it moving again, but haven’t driven it since

Karma finally got back to me and Want nw to drop it off (200 miles away). Don’t know when I plan to do this

I don’t think the car stays charging, but almost every time I’m in the garage I can hear the connector disconnect and then maybe reconnect if I’m there long enough
