I'm the original owner of a 1966 Pontiac Lemans Sprint. I converted it to run on gasoline or propane in the 1970's. I've driven from the Pacific Ocean to Coeur d'Alene Idaho on one take of propane. Propane is much cleaner than gasoline and the carburetion system is also simpler. No choke or accelerator pump required like a gasoline carburetor. Propane is 110 octane and is ideal for engines with a compression ratio of 10.5-to-one like the sprint overhead cam engine. I made several engine modifications to optimize for propane. Of course I can still run on gasoline if I want but the engine really wants 100 octane or better.
