No, but the cost is pretty staggering, reportedly more than $45K. I would much rather get a RAV4E which can be had for around $30K.

And the estimated range of 87 miles makes it impractical for anything except a citycar.

So let me understand this...it costs roughly half the cost of the Karma...it has reportedly twice the range at 87 miles...it is small and just like every other fiat 500 in looks...I doubt it has the performance numbers...it has what going for it? I am constantly amazed that the Karma is played down by the press yet the Fiat, Scion and Honda get lots of positive play. What exactly makes the Karma such a target?

In the car industry, Henrik is the first successful Underdog for a couple of decades... This practically is impossible!

Bought a 500e!
My wife and I have owned a Smart ForTwo since they came out in 2008. It has been a great city car, especially given the limited parking in our home town. It has also been the backup car for our kids when their cars were getting serviced or repaired. When the Smart Electric Drive came 6 months ago it seemed like the perfect upgrade - faster, better handling, much smoother transmission (none), carpool sticker, etc. After a couple of test drives we decided to order one, but the dealer was unable to book our order for 5 months because they could not supply one component of the "Tech Package".
2 weeks ago we went to the San Jose Auto Show and sat in all of the EV's - Smart, Chevy Spark, BMW i3 and Fiat 500e. My wife really liked the 500e's design and flair - she said it reminded her of the VW Bug she had in college. Plus it has 20 more miles of range that the Smart (87) and a backseat. The only downside is that it is 3 feet longer than the Smart, so there are a couple of parking spots in town we won't be able to use. We took delivery yesterday, and really like it!

Congratulations! We are finding our Leaf to be a terrific city car, its range is plenty for our about town needs and kids driving back and forth to school and sports. The 500e is similar in function, I'm sure it will serve you well.
Is there a back-up camera? I don't see it in the cabin, and now think one a mandatory safety feature. Actually the surround camera feature of the Leaf is fantastic, boy do I wish I had that for parking my Karma!

No backup camera but rear parking sensors are standard equipment.

I'm jealous! Even though the 500e is a California-only car my wife and I seriously considered buying one and shipping it to Georgia. The cost, complication and difficulty in getting service killed that idea. (I already have a Karma, why get a second EV you can't get fixed ) She has a deposit on an i3 now.
