Fisker Automotive is proud to announce its RESERVE customizable options program. This exclusive Fisker authorized accessory program will be available through Fisker retailers. The first display car from the program, created in collaboration with Claus Ettensberger Corporation (CEC), offers a variety of aerodynamic components and two wheel options (forged and monoblock) for the Karma with many new exciting products in development.

Hmm.... that press release made no sense to me. Was this a convoluted way for Fisker to say someone out there is doing custom mods to the Karma?

CEC is a well-known tuner of prestige cars in the Los Angeles area (where I am originally from).

Fisker and CEC began their partnership at the 2010 SEMA show in Las Vegas.

I can't imagine how it would be possible to "tune up" a Fisker, at least not in the conventional sense. The garish body kits and custom wheels sold by CEC should definitely increase Fisker's appeal among young Arab sheiks with more money than sense who are responsible for this sort of monstrosity:



Personally, I think it would be a crime to defile Henrik Fisker's design with this sort of nonsense, but it it helps sell more Fiskers, I am all for it.

The only change that comes close to "tuning" is a bolt-on factory upgrade for the Ecotec LNF engine that increased the horsepower by 30 to 290 and was even covered by a GM warranty, but I am not sure if that kit can be installed on the Karma-specific motors.

I wouldn't want to 'mess' with the Ecotec. If it produces more hp it might kill the generator or, if not, make the generator produce more current than the battery can handle.

No question. The kit was available as a pre-installed option and Fisker could have just ordered it in that configuration if they wanted to. There must be a good reason not to get that configuration, such as reliability, fuel consumption, emissions, etc.

Still, it's pretty amazing that you can get almost 300 HP from a tiny 2.0 Litre engine.
