Default WHAT IS BEST Level 2 Charger from Home Depot ?

What do you guys think is the best charger for Karma from Home Depot?
GE, Schneider, Leviton or Legrand
http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/catalog/servlet/THDProductCompare?errorURL=ProductAttributeErrorVi ew&langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053&prodComp_0=2030019 39&prodComp_1=202963679&prodComp_2=202950823&prodC omp_3=203013921&N=5yc1vZbzjt

My Questions are:
1) What gives you faster charge (Hard-Wired or 220v plug?)
2) Does it matter (30A or 16A) since Karma can only go as high as 16A?

Thanks for your input.

1: There is no difference. Both charge at exactly the same speed
2: The 30A charger is more flexible in that it can be used in the future if you get another EV that can use the additional charging capacity or if future Fiskers can handle higher charging currents. For the current generation of Fisker Karmas, 16A is all you need.

Another factor to consider is that some chargers (such as Blink!) provide features that the simpler ones do not, including programmable charging time, remote network monitoring of the charge cycle and the ability to notify you by SMS if the charge cycle is interrupted, and stats on power used for each charge. You should consider whether these features are important to you in addition to the price and charging current.

Talk to your power company for sure. My electron provider has an electric vehicle infrastructure co-coordinator, who totally set me up with the chargers that THEY are endorsing for smart grid networking. Most power companies have at least some type of smart metering for cheaper power for charging cars off peak in beta testing, find out for sure in your area. you might also get them to pay for the charger or give you a rebate or some such if you go through them. I had already sunk a grand in the Fisker branded Lear charger before I found this out. What a mistake that was!

The Schneider also allows for delayed charging...each time you push the charge button delays the start of charging by 1 hour. So if you get home at 7:00pm you can push it twice and take advantage of Comed's off peak rates which kick in at 9:00pm.

I have not had a charge take longer than 3 hours with the Schneider unit. I am extremely pleased with it for 1/2 the cost of a Blink unit.

WoJo--- you are welcome to come by my shop in Elk Grove and see my installation. I hard wired to a plug by the unit and used a twist lock plug (see previous post w/pictures)....just in case I need to disconnect to service the fuses etc. Shoot me a PM if interested.

I'm very happy w the charging time of my Legrand...it doesn't have a timer and the pad isn't full of info but it does the job and was 650 delivered and 300 to install....all in all I felt a good deal.
