To date Joe has been a very straight forward and honest service provider to me and people I recommended him to. People who purchased cars from him have never regretted their decision -- this board is so vocal, anyone who is dishonest is called out very soon -- so buy with confidence.

Joe worked on my car and helped me with shipping my car back to California. He has done superb work for me.

Is it worth it to pay significantly more for a Fisker Karma to get a certified pre owned car with a 2 year unlimited milage warranty?

Of coarse it is at least you know the car has been updated. This still doesn't mean the car will be trouble free but it sure will be better then any other ones that are for sale and you don't know the cars history.

Depends on your risk tolerance. Certified program is like an insurance policy.

Some of the components of a Karma are more likely to fail than others. The Rear Drive Modules (RDM), for example, have very well known failure modes with equally well known upgrades that address those modes. The certified used cars have these known issues addressed, and even if the problem comes back, it will be fixed at no charge under the warranty.

A non-certified used Karma may work just fine for years, or may experience a catastrophic RDM failure a few days after you drive it off the lot. We have seen both of these scenarios on this forum, by the way.

So if you want to roll the dice on used Karma and take the risk that you may end up with $20K RDM or HV Battery repair bill, and get the car cheap enough that the risk is worth it for you, then a non-certified car may be the ticket. But if you donít think the risk is worth it, you should consider the certified program.

Even if you plan to buy a non-certified used Karma, at an absolute minimum, it would be a good idea to have a car you are considering buying fully inspected by Joe before you commit. Definitely donít want to end up buying a leaky RDM or weak HV Battery cells, no matter how cheap the car is.

A whole lot of us - me included - have done business with Joe. In the world of Fiskers you literally cannot do better. I live in Atlanta and have shipped my car to Joe to have him work on it, and I traveled to his shop for a Fisker meet-and-greet too. I haven't bought one of his CPO cars but he stands behind them and that would be good enough for me.

I purchased my Karma from Joe and have been ABSOLUTELY satisfied. You will see dozens of Aston Martins, Porsche, Tesla, and Ferraris on the road. Those are what my 13 year old son points at in a parking lot and says, "Look! A mass produced sports car." (does he get this from Meee?????). When he said that, pointing at a Camero, I almost coughed up my liver from laughing so hard. The car that makes my heart melt is the Karma, and it gets a different kind of attention than other cars do. It always attracts curious enthusiasm. Possibly because it is proportionally beautiful, and inviting to the eye. It doesn't quite meet Phi ratios, but it close enough! I never regretted this birthday gift to myself. I often go cruising with my Porsche friends, and nothing makes a sound like a Karma in Sport Mode at full throttle on the expressway. Next week, I will have put over 10,000 miles on the car, which is a summer-only pleasure vehicle. I purchased it CERTIFIED, because in the grand scheme of things the car can only be sold as a certified vehicle with the 2-yr warranty if it has been fully updated, and the warranty is the cherry on top. Not to sound like a salesman, but the logic is clear. You can spend $47k-$52k on a Karma from a regular foreign car dealer, and yes, the car will need updates and repairs to bring it up to current spec. I put this into heavy consideration when it came time to purchase my car from Joe. He has the technical expertise and intuitive understanding of diagnosis that is necessary to properly maintain these cars. And when I ran the numbers (and time I would be inconvenienced) in "correcting" a car from another dealer, the car from Joe surfaced as not only a fiscally wise purchase, but the smart one. If you wish to discuss my ownership experience, I am happy to discuss.

I am concerned with the history of the company and some of the problems with the cars. I want to try to make sure that I am not getting involved in a total ownership/maintenance black hole situation.
So I have to say I couldn't write a more apprapo ending to this story. @buzinvest is flying out next week to look at my cpo cars. Not to say I told you so, but I just received a call from the dealer that was selling the car that began his love interest in the Karma, and this post. They sold the car to another buyer. The salesman got my number from the forum here and was calling me from the car stuck on the side of the road after it made a loud "siren type noise" and it won't move...yup blown RDM. I can't even make this stuff up. Nice work buzz, saved another life.
