I have been following for a long time and browsing the forum unregistered for a couple years to just follow what you all are experiencing and learning from the amazing resource and people on here. I am surprised to search and see no information on VIN #: YH4K14AA0CA000573 (http://www.platinumleasing.com/2012-...3/Details.aspx) I have been watching this car for a long time now and it is still there. I have to be weary and wonder why. low VIN number? the wrap maybe hiding flaws? no real info on what maint specifically.

Anyway, just want to say hello and I hope to pull the trigger on one at some point hopefully before the MY2016's come out. I currently drive a 2013 Volt and have almost 50k miles on it 80% of those being electric and I commute 110 miles a day. So, doing that in a Karma would be pure joy.

Welcome! There are lots of good Karmas out there - I would suggest you consider the 3 currently being posted on another thread by @FiskerPhilly. They have been serviced and updated and you can be more confident on the history of these cars IMHO.

Good luck with your search and just take your time. A little extra due diligence and patience can mean the difference between a great car with few issues versus one with lots of potential headaches.

P.S. I also have a Volt as my daily driver, and you will love driving the Karma by comparison.

Hello WATTGAS. I am in contact with FiskerPhilly : ) I am indeed taking my time. How does the Karma compare in range? I would think very similar. I am getting around 1300 miles in between fill-ups in the Volt.

Do what I do and have both (Karma and a Volt)!

Obviously range varies based on driving habits. I rarely use gas for either cars, as I have a ChargePoint at work. The Volt's range is reliably 35 miles and the Karma is a bit more (40 or so).

I've been obsessively tracking this for my Karma. Obviously YMMV but for the last seven fill-ups, which take me back into mid-2012, I've seen the following distance between fuel stops:

1013.0
1920.0
1905.0
1863.0
1451.0
2228.0
497.0

This averages to 1554 miles between fill-ups. It's worth noting that the Karma fuel tank is relatively small; the average fill-up was only 7.79 gallons.

Apparently you've used about 50 gallons to drive more than 10,0000 miles.

So would it be fare to say you're getting around 200 mpg?

197.9 over that span. Not that I'm counting

The price of electricity has nothing to do with the number of miles driven per gallon of gas consumed.

But it depends on if you're using that ~200MPG to compare to ... say ... a 35MPG Honda Civic ... it's apples & oranges. However, since the electricity to get your Karma to 50 miles is maybe 1/3 the cost of the equivalent 2 gallons of gas ... You can suggest that he used 50 Gal ($3/Gal call it $150) to drive 1250 miles, and got 8750 miles on electricity at about $1 per 25 miles. So, $350 for the electric miles. Which is equivalent to 117 Gal ... plus the original 50 makes it 10,000 miles for (the cost of) 167 Gallons of gas, or about a 60MPG equivalent to compare against that Honda!
