Default Fisker Ocean SUV

As Fisker announces its potentially forthcoming SUV (the Fisker Ocean, to rhyme with Fisker eMotion apparently - rather clever), I can't help but think that $40k price tag must be a typo.

Default Fisker Ocean

It seems that the monthly lease cost of the Fisker Ocean will be "under $400" - per Henrik's Twitter feed.

Not a typo. I put down my $250 deposit using the new Fisker App and I hope to lease one early on in the process. I think the method of offering a flexible lease term with 30K miles a year is brilliant: it takes away a big chunk of risk to the consumer and allows more people to take the leap on a new car company.

The production-ready Ocean will be unveiled at CES in less than 2 weeks!

The unveil didn't look like it was ready for prime time. Anyone actually attend?

I watched the livestream. Henrik's "entrance" was a bit hokey, and he's no Steve Jobs when it comes to product reveals, but the vehicle itself looked pretty interesting. Here's a recap:

I watched the Ocean reveal and was not overly impressed to be frank. The Ocean seems like a small car; Henrik seemed much taller than the vehicle and when he sat in it, he was very low. This is not what most SUV owners are wanting. The design is nowhere as exciting as previous Fisker designs and I am skeptical about the appeal of vegan materials in the interior. Nonetheless, I have put my $250 down to get one in 2022 and hope that the production versions are more exciting than what we have seen so far (the 0-60 in 2.9 secs. in a sporty version of the Ocean sounds promising).

I believe the size is based on the underlying chassis and battery they will be buying from someone else (more news at CES likely). At the price point they are targeting, itís really the CUV buyer market, not the SUV buyer market. Itís a ďyoungerĒ vehicle market and, IMO, they want to capture younger buyers in the same way Apple hooked young people by putting Apple computers in elementary schools.

The Ocean looks great and the Company has a perfect plan, IMO. This should be interesting over the next few months in the next year.
