It looks like a DC Quick Charge station, which the Fisker cannot use. Without excusing the behavior, it looks like the Fisker driver thought that it was a regular level II charging station and pulled in, but when he/she discovered that the connector is not compatible, they just left the car there rather than moving it.

Not really a nice thing to do.

Someone was being lazy and just wanted a closer parking spot... That just puts a black mark on everyone else and it's not cool.

OK, I'm gona stir this pot and be the Devil's advocate...mainly 'cuz I like to argue and partly because I get ticked off at anyone who thinks they "deserve" a spot any more than the next guy. I never do, but here goes anyway...

That Fisker driver is driving an EV. He has every right to park in a charging spot. It is the FAULT of the charging station that they discriminate against the Fisker EV by having a charging station that doesn't fit the Fisker. As a Fisker driver utilizing electricity 95% of the time, I have every right to expect charging capabilities as much as the next EV. And on top of that, there are plenty of EV's with 200 miles of range that pull into these and "top off" even when they are just 30 miles from home and still have 150 miles of range left. DO I bitch them out and call it a "punk move" when they really don't need the extra juice? I can argue that the 45-mile range PHEVs of the world need the short-term charge in some cases more than the "topper-offers".

Really..... It is just civil not to block a charger out of spite or lack of consideration. Of Course, the owner can move it and park in a Handicap Space. That will show those people in Wheel Chairs who think they can park closer than the rest of us.

Is there no common courtesy left.

This is kinda fun to watch. We solved these problems on the right coast by having no public charging stations...

@Dave_Car_Guy, that sounds a lot like every closing argument on Boston Legal, which is to say, entertaining but legally flawed. The problem with your argument is that in most jurisdictions, including California, the EV parking spot is reserved for EVs that are charging. (See, e.g., Cal. Vehicle Code section 22511) Since a Karma cannot charge using the type of charger provided, it does not "every right", or indeed any right, to park in this particular spot.

Using your logic, we can easily argue (and we often do) that it is Fisker that is flawed for failing to provide a DC Quick Charge capability.

Nice try, but parking like a D-Bag is not a good look, not even in a Karma.

That's why I love hearing from you, Fab! The proper legal interpretation! Of course you are right and I was just being argumentative. I would be pissed at that guy, too!
