I ended up dropping my Fisker with a local consignment boutique that handles high end cars and got the dreaded call today... the car won't turn on. They tell me it's in the show room and won't start, so I head down with my trickle charger and my fingers crossed. When I get there, they say that they wasjed the car, drove it in the show room, turned it off and it locked the driver in. I had this happen last year, so I assume 12v battery. I hook up my trickle charger and it says the battery is at 3.4v... DEEP discharge is what I think to myself. However, after about a minute or two, it switches to conditioning mode and shows 14.1v. I reset the trickle charger and and it won't connect, as if it can't recognize the battery. Repeat several times, no go. He brings over his jump starter and hooks it up to trickle, again with no luck. We switch to jump mode on his charger and the car comes to life somewhat. I get in and the passenger window rolls down by itself (and stays down). All of the dash lights are on, including the worst ones - "Critical Powertrain Fault" and "Critical Brake Fault" (I think) both flash and the red triangle and CEL lights are on. PArking brake lights are flashing. I assume it may have something to do with the strange voltage its probably getting and we disconnect... the car is dead again, with no response to anything. My thinking at this point is that something is up with the 12v, so I let them know it probably needs a trickle charge or a new 12v battery. They hook up their charger to trickle and it seems to take, so I leave it with them to charge. Later this aftenoon I get a call that nothing is working and go back with a tow truck to bring it home. As its being loaded I ask for specifics about what happened... again they say they washed it, brought it in, and it died. I ask if they used a pressure washer and the answer was, unfortunately, "yes". I told them it can't go through hands free washes when I initially dropped it and wouldn't have imagined they'd use a pressure washer on high end cars, but it is what it is at this point.
This is all a VERY long way of asking if anyone has heard of these symptoms. I'm assuming, based on what I've read, that my CIU is destroyed from water intrusion. However, I haven't seen the complete dead car as a symptom of a dead CIU in other posts. Is there a possibility I'm lucky and its a fuse or really just the 12v? The 12v is only 6-9 months old and has been well maintained. The HV was rebuilt last year and the car has a TOM. I believe its 52X software. Everything else electronic is factory stock. Its an EcoChic. I'll change the battery tomorrow to see if that does anything since it has a warranty, but thought I'd check in with experts and friends here to see if there's anything else I should do. If its the CIU, tips on how to remove and whether or not replacements are available would be appreciated
. Thanks in advance for your help!!!
