Default cracked front bumper

the front flexible bumper is torn on the lower driver side, as if the previous owner parked over one of those parking lot bumper things, and then backed off of it and it caught and tore. the tear is about 8 inches.

so far we have simply tried duct taping the seam from behind, but i have been reading about plastic welding and wonder how really effective that is.

would hate to have to replace the entire front because of that.

alternatively, does anybody have a used front bumper? preferably in shadow?
how easy is it to match the paint if its a different color?
would the revero bumper fit?

A good bodyshop can repair the bumper. Check with Joe for the price of a new bumper used bumpers usually sell more then the cost of a new one. I wouldn't count on getting a Revero bumper

take it to a decent body shop; they can make it look like new for not a lot of money.
I've done it often!

Haha, that sounds honest, but parkingly challenged.

what is 'not a lot of money' in your estimation?

Anywhere from $800 to 2000 depending on extent of damage.

the estimate i have is $1700.
i thought that was a bit steep, but am informed that a new one would cost $3k....

my concern is that even if we did this plastic welding, that the area might still be weak and easily redamaged, OR the whole part is weak to begin with, and i just damage another side.
my other concern is that i understand getting the paint color right again to match the rest of the car (it is shadow), is difficult as well because of the 3 different layers of paint and the changes it goes through depending on the light.

anyway..... do you guys think it is worthwhile doing?

I had a guy in NW Houston do some cosmetic work for me on my rear bumper and he did a great job. He was familiar with and used the Dupont paint to match my silver wind. PM me and I'll give you his name if you want to get a quote from him. It's been about a year ago.
