Two modules failed/replaced (#7 & #13 ) at 650mi (cost: ~$4k).

All 12V batteries depending on how they are maintained (kept on a maintainer) are good for 4-7yrs as a normal wear life or an accelerated one (<4yrs) if allowed to deplete repleatedly or in extreme cold climates.

The HV batteries to my knowledge do not fail in mass (all modules at once), but fail as individul modules that can be replaced, so it is a misnomer to state there is a $20k price tag to replace the HV battery as it is unlikey the entire pack tray would have to be swapped.

Thanks. Yeah "service manager" made the dumbass remark to me.

HIM: "Did you just get that"

ME: Yes

HIM: "Hope you got a good deal"

ME: I looked at him like what the **** does that mean?

HIM: New Batteries are $20,000 alone....

ME: Thinking to myself.. yeah whatever buddy

BTW, I've got a leaky rear passenger brake caliper (possibly ebrake??). Ordered the part ($500 later) and waiting for it to come in. Kinda pisses me off when Fisker dealer I purchased it form up north "Everything is fine and reasy to go". I have leaking caliper cover and parking brake fault...... oh well, live and learn....

OK... no my HV Battery is operating fine. I have repeating travel in Stealth mode to various locations, and pleased to say it has remain consistent (if not slightly better) range over the last 5 years. When my Karma was new, I was glad to "just drive somewhere". However, I always drove the battery down to 5 miles of range and then charged. I usually run the battery to low levels and then charge. Not hard to do with 40-45 mile actual range. I do not plug in to "top-off".

Not an expert on Battery Management, but that has been my experience with other Lithium-Ion batteries in computers, power tools and other devices. I applied this logic to my Karma. Granted A123 had so issues with some batteries, and I may be lucky. Hope my response is not a jinx.

I still have the original HV battery at 105 000 km, and I almost use it in stealth mode. I've had a 12V battery change at 50 000 km in March 2016.

Battery replaced via recall in 2012, otherwise 46,000 miles and all is well. Almost always in stealth mode registering 409mpg.

Thinking I should have HarleyGuy replace the 12V, but when I go out of town, the trickle charger is always 95% before I plug it in. So I must assume it's still be in good shape.

had original battery replaced after 3 weeks. Under original warranty! Probably last to get one.

Since then no replacements and I have 28,000 miles.

Maybe a better question ... Has anybody successfully implemented a 3rd Party battery?
