Over the weekend I test drive a 2019 mini clubman. It had wireless Apple CarPlay. I think something like that in the Fisker would be amazing!

My 2017 Honda Pilot Elite has wireless Apple Car Play and I also think it is awesome.

Wireless CarPlay in a 2017? Wow! I wasn’t aware and manufacturer supported wireless until BMW did so with 2019 models.

Is there any Pioneer Carplay option that works in the 2012? Any owner tried this that can report on it, because it's a sub-$1000 fix if it works. I expect there is no wireless option as described in the link below, but wouldn't the usb outlet in the center console work as a wired option?

I don’t think the Pioneer or any aftermarket head unit will retain AC and all the other functions that route thru the CIU.

No new CIU’s have been produced since Fisker closed its doors and Karma Automotive is working off any stock they have left which by now has to be limited quantities. My Karma dealer (Frank Kent - Fort Worth) says I need a new CIU but he cannot get one from Karma. This all started with a screeching noise coming out of the center speaker upon start up of the car. They replaced the amp and speaker but once I got it home, it still screeched. This noise lasts about 5-10 seconds and goes away. Now they are saying that I need a new CIU but they cannot get one. Anybody know where a good CIU is laying around?? Does the CIU control that center speaker and/or would a re-flash of the existing CIU do any good? I'm on 535 now and have been since June 2016. Anyone know of an alternative CIU option?

2 things.
I just confirmed that Karma Automotive has run out of CIUs and the dealers are all out of them. This is going to become a big problem for ALL Karma owners, as in our biggest fear has become a reality. Running out of parts.
I have limited stock of CIUs and saving them for emergency as in my customers that bought cars from me.
A couple things you can do. Disconnect the rear subwoofee under the hat shelf is one option. The issue however is caused by a CIU that got wet and it will likely get worse until it crashes.
Option B is to have them order a European CIU. I believe you only lose AM and Satellite radio if Im not mistaken. I am in the process of acquiring one to try some NA software variants to test the result. But this will at least buy some time.
I am working on a better solution but Im not ready to reveal just yet.

Yes hopefully can announce something soon that is more cost effective... but if you do have a water damaged CIU.. Do not throw it away, ask for it back. It is possible to recover it via an ultrasonic cleaner. If you can find a reputable electronics repair facility that has one, they can clean the corrosion off the board and apply a conformal coating to protect it... there is a good possibility it may work.

FiskerPhilly:
1) Its great to see that you have a limited stock of CIUs and that you are saving them for emergency as in for your customers that bought cars from you. I am so glad that I purchased my car from you, you have been awesome.
2) Its also great to hear that you are working on a better solution but are not ready to reveal just yet.

Also the Karma has two CIU they used one came in the sport and eco and one in the base model .
The one in the base model has backup camera but no Nav and I think there is a difference if you have a sub woofer option . Karma didn’t make a whole lot of base models . The CIU will,work for sure . Also Fisker has software that can turn on the Nav system they had coding for us to do it in the field but it didn’t work . We had to send the CIU into them to flash .
I know the software works if it was me i would get the base unit if you think your CIU will completely fail.
