there is an engine hour run time parameter that is transmitted on the bus.. just never implemented with service. Kinda silly to do engine maintenance at mileage intervals with regards to a generator. Run-time is a better indicator of service intervals.

Is it safe to ever go more than a year on the same oil, even if you don't put a lot of hours on the engine?

Depends... the quantifiable way to measure real oil change intervals, based on your driving habits, is to send a sample of the oil to an oil analysis company (like blackstone labs) to determine when it should be changed. Once a baseline is established, you will then be able to follow that interval rather than guessing on when the oil should be replaced. We send a sample in about every 3 years, some 's LNF/LDK's are different than others- even with same usage patterns. YMMV

Funny story. I drove up to a local oil change company (corp places would not touch the car), and had the oil changed for $35. At first they said "no!", but then I opened the hood, and all the young guys came out and were very interested in changing the oil at that point. No more Fisker doing it for me.

That is a good deal, since synthetic Mobil 1, around here costs at least 30 bucks for 5-6 quarts (just for oil). Usually around 70 bucks for an outsourced oil change and 40 bucks just in oil and for the filter (parts only). Great deal!

Our first units have been sent out to early-adopter customers, once we get feedback; we will open up general orders.
