A faster engine won't get you any faster to your destination.
The top speed of the Karma is limited by the top rpm of the electric motors.
There is not much you could do about it ... other than inventing a gear box for the RDM TDM stuff.

You won't be able to recharge much faster by getting a faster engine, as there is also a limitation in energy flowing into the HV battery...

So sadly, you have to stick with it 😢

The inverters are the weakest link with regards to performance. Would start with replacing those. A123 claims that AMP20 cell can do 10c+ so that is 200kw in stealth mode add in the 190kw from ICE (sport) and it maybe possible to utilize the full 300kw that the motors are allegedly capable of producing. Right now i think the inverters can only do 120kw or so peak. So about 80hp less than motor spec. This would probably the max performance available with the current setup.

Next after adding more power, you need to make the contactor larger under the rear seat... Or it just pops...

I think you mean MSD aka fuse, we use a 630a fuse that is a drop in replacement for the 350a stock fuse.

Would it be hard to replace the inverters? Which one could one use? Where are they placed? Are new ones bigger? Do they have different cables?

They are behind the close out shelf in the trunk

Two of these:

Would require some integration work, they run $13k a piece. Metricmind an outfit in Portland sells them

I wouldn't convert to a V8, but what I would do is buy a second Karma and drop it off if you could make it two doors and drop the top--

@FiskerPhilly

Have any luck with this project? The ability to do this once the car dies is significantly playing into my decision of buying one in a few weeks.

Thanks!

Well I think this would be an LS9 with an auto but I'm sure the transmission could be any compatible one the mechanic can find. I wonder if any experienced engine swap shop could do a swap like this.
