Default Front Facing Camera

I mentioned this in another thread, and there was some interest in details about my Christmas present to myself.

My local CSP (Corey Hom at the Scottsdale Vault) arranged for me to get a camera mounted to the center front bumper ... just like a backup camera, but facing forward. He replaced the rear view mirror with one that displays the image in the corner. Externally, the mirror looks pretty the same as stock (same HomeLink remote buttons), but it has an LCD display built into it. The camera comes on when the front radar beeps or when I flip a switch he installed just under the dash (in case I'm in Hill Mode) out of sight, but reachable. The camera displays a perfect view what's right in front of me. I can see the Curb / Parking Blocks coming ... and stop before scraping them. No more scraped up bumper!! You can't see the camera lens at all unless you get down on your knees and look for it. It's mounted down in the center in the lowest opening in the bumper.

Here's a couple of photos:

Corey suggested it to me a couple of months back, and I think it's great so far!!

Best I can do to give you a link is this:

https://www.facebook.com/Scottsdalevault

Their phone number is: 480-330-2821

The parts are just stock GM parts, I believe. The mirror appears to be the same one that's in my 2012 Chevy Traverse as a backup camera. They just wired it nicely to the radar & to a switch inside the cabin. All very neatly done.

Actually, I guess it's got to be a newer camera than the one in my Traverse, because it has the computer drawn "tracking guide lines" on top of the image (something my 2012 does not have). They are very helpful in gauging the distance -- when the curb top touches the green top line, you're exactly where you want to be! But, the mirror & display image look the same otherwise.

Wow, having paid to touch up my front bumper and both front rims numerous times, this would be sweet. Going to have to get this.

That is a cool trick, can you post a picture of how the camera looks on the front of the car. Very slick JC!!

HarleyGuy,
Do you think you could do this? IF so let me know what you would charge.
