Fisker Karma shifter design has changed
If you look at the photos on the new Fisker website, you'll see that the gear selector is now a push-button unit:

From this, the earlier gear shifter with side selector:

I welcome the change - one of the few elements I found unappealing about the Karma's interior was that hideous shifter. Unless it had very firm detents, I'd worry about a passenger accidentally shifting the car from drive to park!

The new design is much more elegant.

Your thoughts on the change?

RE: Fisker Karma shifter design has changed
I am very glad that they got rid of that shifter. I saw the Karma in person, sat in it and thought everything up front looked great except that hideous obnoxiously large non-functional shifter. Which compared to any car I've driven is way too large. I must say on the accidental front, the buttons(gear selector) are very close to the window switches. it looks like it can be pressed just as easily by a passenger now as before.

Hopefully the selection buttons are programmed to be non-responsive once the car is in motion?

Wimbeldon, the gearshift mechanism will have a lockout feature that prevents accidental inputs.

I don't think accidental presses of the shifter buttons instead of the window ones will be a big problem, as the shifter ones look to be arranged in a sort of pyramid that will feel very different, under the fingers, than the window buttons. You'll notice, just by putting your hand on them, which buttons you have put your hand on.
